Right then, Psylocke: Reacher’s Agnez Mo weighs in on fan casting — with one complaint
Reacher star Agnez Mo has thrown her hat in the ring to play Psylocke in upcoming X-Men reboot — though there’s a snag she’s keen to point out.
Now this is the sort of story you don't see every day: an Indonesian pop megastar with over 190 music awards to her name takes a fifteen-year break from acting, ambushes Hollywood with a role in Reacher, and then pops up in the debate about Marvel's next big thing. Agnez Mo has thrown her hat firmly in the ring to play Psylocke in that inevitable X-Men reboot, and she did it in style—right in the middle of a Twitter fan-casting storm.
Agnez Mo jumped on X and said, 'Thanks! I'm just gonna put it out to the universe… Psylocke. @MarvelStudios @Marvel.' She added a cheeky nudge about an AI-generated photo that was doing the rounds alongside her name.
The tale unraveled after one X account, BoinkBuzz, chucked out a post suggesting Agnez Mo as 'Psylocke' in Marvel's next mutant lineup. An AI mockup of her as Betsy Braddock soon started circling. Mo herself pointed out the digital fakery—because, yes, people are now being fan-cast by machines, not just fans.
The Reacher Connection
Why is Agnez Mo popping up now? Simple—she plays Lila Hoth in Reacher Season 4 over on Prime Video, which happens to be her proper Hollywood comeback after more than a decade away from screens. Given she's better known in Southeast Asia for pop bangers and chart domination, her leap into a prime American action thriller was always going to raise a few eyebrows—and maybe catch Marvel casting directors’ attention.
Within a few hours of Agnez Mo's response, the thread had pulled in over 800,000 views. Not shabby for a superhero rumour mill.
The reactions kept piling in. Someone even tagged Kevin Feige directly—always a bold move—telling Marvel to "cast her bruh!!!!" Subtlety not their strong suit.
Marvel's Current Roster
The big question: is Psylocke even cast yet? Officially, not quite. Marvel made its splashiest announcements at D23 Expo on 14 August, showing off fresh faces for the X-Men core:
- Sadie Sink as Jean Grey
- Kit Connor as Cyclops
- Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier
- Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
- Inde Navarrette as Rogue
- Maya Boyd as Storm (a Broadway alum landing her first major film)
There was even a video pop-in from Adam Driver, revealing he's on board as Mister Sinister—that is, Nathaniel Milbury for the hardcore fanbase. Kevin Feige has made it clear the rest of the roster will be announced down the line, so the Psylocke slot is (for now) wide open.
The X-Men reboot arrives in cinemas on 5 May 2028.
For reference, Psylocke's been slicing things up in Marvel comics since 1976, first appearing in Captain Britain—in those days just Betsy Braddock, telepathic mutant and a reliable fixture of every major X-team since. Jake Schreier is on directing duties for the reboot.
