Rob Brydon has a surprise cameo in DC’s Clayface
An early review in The Times has outed Clayface’s surprise cameo ahead of Friday’s debut — and no, the Dark Knight isn’t the one dropping by.
As the DCU gets ready to drop its latest film in October, we've got a cameo that no one saw coming and a bit of disappointment for Batman obsessives. If you were holding out for the Caped Crusader to pop up in Clayface, it's probably time to lower those expectations.
Rob Brydon — best known for Gavin & Stacey and The Trip — pops up in Clayface as a talk-show host, according to The Times' early review. That's right, Rob Brydon is now DC canon. Stay with me.
Brydon's not the main draw, though — the title character is in the hands of Tom Rhys Harries, and yes, Clayface is set right in Gotham City. That alone sparked a wave of speculation online. Long-time readers know Clayface has always been one of Batman's classic baddies, so the rumour mill churned out whisperings of a possible Bat-cameo, especially in the post-credits.
No Bat-Signal This Time
If you were hoping for Bruce Wayne to swoop in after the credits, reckon you'll have to wait. Reports from the early screenings make it pretty clear: there's no post-credits scene at all. Forget mid-credits, too — nothing. So, no surprise DCU Batman introduction, no cheeky Bat-shadow on a rooftop, nothing. The result? More waiting for the go-ahead on seeing DC Studios' new Dark Knight in action.
Clayface skips the tradition — there's not even a mid-credits or post-credits teaser to be found, so don't expect any Batman-shaped surprises.
The next proper Bat-entry is meant to be The Brave and the Bold. So far, the studio hasn't said anything official about who'll be playing Batman in that project. Rumours keep floating around about Tom Brittney and a few other names, but nothing's locked in as of 2026. The director’s seat will be taken by Andy Muschietti, fresh from The Flash.
Supporting Cast and Release
The rest of the Clayface line-up is actually pretty decent, with David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, and Joshua James rounding out the cast. The film lands in North American cinemas on 23 October 2026, and — in case parental guidance groups ask — it's rated R.
Clayface arrives in cinemas in the UK and North America on 23 October 2026, with Tom Rhys Harries in the title role and Rob Brydon in a cameo nobody called.
