‘I will find a new family’ — Britney Spears blasts sister Jamie Lynn and ex-husband
Britney Spears has laid into sister Jamie Lynn Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline on Instagram — with a line that’ll make you do a double take.
Not a quiet week in Camp Spears: Britney Spears has come out swinging at her own family—again. This time, we’re getting the full story via Instagram, of all places, and she isn’t exactly holding back on the personal details. If you thought things had calmed down following that infamous conservatorship battle, well, things are still as chaotic as ever on the Spears front.
Spears posted on Instagram this week that she’d ‘find a new family,’ airing out her grievances with both her younger sister Jamie Lynn and ex-husband Kevin Federline.
The latest grievances
This newest post comes with a laundry list of allegations. Britney claims her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, wouldn’t let her hold Jamie Lynn’s daughter, Ivey, during visits down in Louisiana at the height of the pandemic. Nice bit of family hospitality there. Over on the Federline front, Britney alleges her ex refused to let her use the bathroom on visits with their sons. You read that correctly—grown adults arguing over loo privileges. She doesn’t elaborate on exactly when that bathroom incident happened, so the timeline’s a bit blurry.
To drive the point home, she included a still from the 2003 film Uptown Girls (no, I’m not sure of the symbolism either, but let’s chalk it up to classic Britney drama flair). The post’s caption didn’t shy away: she accused Jamie Lynn and Federline of making her feel ‘like a slave’ and hiding things behind her back while she was, in her words, ‘working for my dad’.
Family feuds, round infinity
If you haven’t been tracking every twist since the conservatorship blew up in 2021, this post is really just the next chapter in a saga going back nearly twenty years. Ever since she and Federline divorced in 2007, things turned properly bitter with a long court fight over their two sons—Federline wound up with full physical custody for a stretch, and Britney’s access to her kids was, at times, on ice.
The situation with Jamie Lynn has been just as ugly. Since Britney’s court testimony in 2022, fans have accused Jamie Lynn of being less than supportive—Britney even called her out directly in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, saying her sister tried to benefit from the whole conservatorship mess. Jamie Lynn responded with her own book, Things I Should Have Said, so if you love the sibling tell-all genre, they’ve got you covered from both sides.
Britney Spears’ autobiography is now getting a film adaptation, directed by Jon M. Chu of Wicked fame.
Make no mistake, the saga’s about to get even more cinematic. With Chu on board for the biopic based on The Woman in Me, don’t plan on the drama ending on Instagram any time soon.
