Done waiting for House of Guinness? Netflix finally says what’s next after one season
A year on from its debut, Netflix has finally made the call on 'House of Guinness' — and the outcome might raise eyebrows.
Right then, let’s get into it: Steve Knight and Netflix have officially lined up another round of House of Guinness. If the title didn’t tip you off, this is that sprawling historical drama about the Guinness brewing clan—one of those families that can’t get out of their own way, what with all the bickering and wanting the last word over dad’s piles of cash and barrels of stout. Netflix kept fans sweating after that first season cliffhanger, but now it’s a done deal: Season 2 is happening.

The Season 2 Plan
The streamer took their sweet time confirming it, finally dropping the news almost a year on from the series launch. Filming for the new run is supposed to start in January, and if all goes to plan, you’re looking at a premiere date sometime in late 2027 or even 2028. Not exactly swift, but at least you can mark it on your (digital) calendar now.
Series creator Knight is sticking to his guns on the long arc—he wants four whole seasons, stretching the Guinness saga from the 1860s right up to the 1960s. So yes, we’re going from horses and gas lamps all the way to Beatles haircuts and the last Guinness in charge by the end. Knight admits he’s taking a fair bit of creative licence with the history—less about academics, more about the story landing with a dramatic punch—but he’s promised to stay loyal to the core family and those four main siblings juggling the mess dad left behind.
Where Last We Left the Guinness Crew
For those who’ve forgotten, Season 1 set out its stall with Sir Benjamin Gunness dying and his baffled offspring instantly trying to figure out how to carve up the inheritance without killing each other. We got political unrest brewing, siblings all backbiting and angling for leverage, and things kicked off properly with an attempted assassination in the finale. It ends with someone firing a gun at Arthur Guinness (not that one, his fictional ancestor), but did the bullet do the job? That’s still up in the air, and Knight isn’t exactly rushing to clear things up.
Asked by Tudum about that final frame and the literal smoking gun cliffhanger, here’s Knight keeping the audience guessing:
I want people to wonder where that bullet’s going to go. I’m wondering where that bullet’s going to go.
Apparently the answer’s coming straight away at the start of Season 2, so no need to meme about it in the meantime.

Pretty much the full cast is back—Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn and Fionn O'Shea return as the four Guinness siblings (Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Benjamin), plus James Norton, Niamh McCormack, Jack Gleeson, Seamus O'Hara, Michael McElhatton, David Wilmot, Dervla Kirwan, Danielle Galligan, and Ann Skelly round out the supporting crew. Expect plenty more power plays, intrigue, and drama about who’ll steer the Guinness empire to glory—or into a ditch.
