With DC Studios’ horror Clayface looming, the real cliffhanger is whether Batman appears in a mid- or post-credits scene — and that’s now settled.

Let's clear up a bit of confusion before Clayface lands in cinemas: if you're one of those people who sticks around through the credits hoping for a Marvel-style tease, you're in for a quietly straightforward experience this time. This DC Studios horror flick is doing its own thing, and honestly, that's not such a bad call.

Clayface has no post-credits or mid-credits scene.

No Extra Scenes

Clayface digs into the villain's origins, steering clear of all the usual cape-and-cowl shenanigans you might expect. The film centres on a Hollywood actor whose life starts off on the glamorous side and takes a hard swerve into body horror. After an experimental treatment goes spectacularly wrong, he finds himself transformed into Clayface — a revenge-driven shape-shifter with a serious identity crisis.

Now, if you've got used to DC films tossing in cheeky post-credit winks or set-ups for future blockbusters, adjust your expectations. There's no mid-credits sequence, and nothing tucked away after the end credits either. As soon as the film finishes, that's your lot — you can head out or actually read the credits for once, up to you.

The Batman Question

No surprise, fans have been asking whether Batman appears in Clayface. The answer's clear: Batman doesn't actually show up on screen. Still, the film confirms he exists — he's active somewhere in this version of the DC Universe, just not dropping in for a cameo or a fight. You'll have to wait a bit longer for a new Batman reveal.

Tom Rhys Harries leads as Clayface, and judging by the buzz, his monster credentials are firmly in order. The character's nightmarish powers, and the film's focus on fear and fractured identity, give it a flavour very different from your average DC project. If you're hoping for a big Batman/Clayface showdown, there's nothing officially announced — we're all in the waiting room together on that front.

Director James Watkins leans right into body horror here, skipping the superhero spectacle to zero in on character and psychological thrills. Compared to the last couple of DCU outings — a quick gag at the end of Superman, not a sausage after Supergirl — this one opts for a clean, self-contained finish. Some might call it refreshing.

Clayface hits UK cinemas on 23 October 2026.
