Tatiana Maslany teases a She-Hulk MCU comeback, but says it will only happen if one key creative condition is met.

So, She-Hulk fans: don’t hold your breath for a quick green comeback. Tatiana Maslany just poked her head out to talk about possibly returning as Jennifer Walters in the MCU—only it sounds like there's a bigger catch than you might think.

What She-Hulk Needs Before She Smashes Back

In a recent interview to promote her new project Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, Maslany let slip her one-and-only box that needs checking before she’ll even consider slipping back into those super-stretchy suits. Basically, it all comes down to whether or not there’s something to actually say—about our current mess of a world.

Here’s how she put it:

'It would have to be something about the world now because that’s She-Hulk’s power, is seeing what’s happening and sort of calling it out.'

Now, if you watched She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+, you already know the first (and so far, only) season leaned hard into that whole ‘breaking the fourth wall’ meta-humor—she was doing it before Deadpool made it cool, by the way. But, as Maslany sees it, the next round can’t just coast on comic book gags and MCU references; it needs teeth. Or at least, it needs to say something that’s actually about right now, not just another green brawl.

Who's Calling the Creative Shots?

Maslany also pointed out there’s one person who really gets the She-Hulk vibe: showrunner Jessica Gao.
According to her, if anyone is going to figure out what’s next for Jennifer Walters, it’s Gao. And honestly, I kind of agree—Gao managed to make courtroom legalese and MCU lore somehow mesh, even when Marvel’s CGI couldn’t always keep up.

Where Things Actually Stand

  • First season: Dropped in 2022, ran for nine episodes on Disney+. Mark Ruffalo showed up as Bruce Banner (naturally).
  • Season 2? Marvel hasn't said a word about a follow-up. The first round had its share of drama: review bombing, fans dunking on CGI, and the usual internet nitpicking.
  • Firing rumors: Earlier this year, wild reports flew around claiming Maslany was booted from Marvel. She called those stories ‘disgusting’ and made it clear she’s not out.
  • Upcoming MCU: No official mention of She-Hulk showing up in the next Avengers movies (Doomsday later this year, Secret Wars in 2027).

Meanwhile, Maslany herself is keeping busy—she’ll be in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and is voicing a character over on Invincible. So, if Marvel is dragging its heels, at least she’s not sitting around in a green bodysuit waiting for a call.

Bottom Line

Maslany isn’t shutting the She-Hulk door, but don’t expect her to pop up just for nostalgia’s sake. If the character returns, it’s going to be for a reason that makes sense now—meaning, if all you want is punchlines and MCU cameos, you might want to look elsewhere (or rewatch the one season we’ve got).
