Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already in the record books months before opening, smashing two major milestones as a trailer blitz and surging hype power Tom Holland’s web-slinger comeback.

Well, you can usually count on Spider-Man swinging in with a load of hype, but 'Brand New Day', Tom Holland's fourth outing as Peter Parker, is already rewriting the book on what 'hotly anticipated' actually means—months before anyone's even seen the film. The numbers aren't just good, they're bonkers, and the marketing machine hasn't even hit top speed yet.

Record-Shattering Trailers (Yes, Plural)

If you thought trailer launches were just a bit of puff for fans, 'Brand New Day' has apparently decided to break the internet instead. Let's look at it this way:

  • The first trailer notched up 718.6 million views in its very first 24 hours. That's not a typo. Four days on, it stormed past the one billion mark—faster than anything else before it.
  • Somewhere out there, a bunch of marketing executives are probably popping champagne, as the number is now past 1.1 billion, according to WaveMetrix.
  • And since one record apparently isn't enough, the second full trailer then landed another knockout—590.8 million views during its first week, putting it just beneath its own predecessor for all-time biggest trailer launch.

What's It Actually About?

The studio line is this:

'A forgotten Peter Parker lives alone as a full-time Spider-Man until mounting pressure triggers a dangerous change and a powerful new enemy emerges.'

Not exactly cheery, but that's business as usual at this point—lonely Spider-Man, some kind of existential crisis, and a brand new supervillain to make things worse.

The Cast, in Case You Blinked

Plenty of familiar faces returning, and a couple of names likely to get hardcore fans and Marvel Reddit running wild:

- Tom Holland (obviously) back as Parker
- Zendaya and Jacob Batalon both return
- Sadie Sink has a mystery role—so cue all the speculation
- Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo round things out

Directing duties go to Destin Daniel Cretton, who's apparently taken on the unenviable task of topping whatever high-wire act the last trilogy managed.

What's Next for Spidey?

Once the dust settles from 'Brand New Day' (and the meme accounts have calmed down), the Marvel machine pivots to 'Avengers: Doomsday', scheduled for 18 December 2026, with the Russo brothers back at the controls. It's still all speculation as to whether Holland will swing in for that one—nothing official yet, but the rumour mill is running overtime. The real treat for fans comes a year after that: 'Avengers: Secret Wars', dropping 17 December 2027.
