Seth Rogen joins the DCU in a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo
Seth Rogen just crashed the DCU — not as a caped heavy-hitter, but with a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo nobody saw coming. After months of Supergirl whispers, he pops up in a left-field role that’ll have fans asking the only question that matters: who’s he playing?
If you told me Seth Rogen would show up in the shiny new DCU, I probably would’ve had him pegged as some stoned Green Lantern sidekick or, at the very least, a talking dog. Well, he has appeared in the DC universe now – just not in the way anyone really expected. Unless you’re one of those people who actually comb through every credit and background voice, you probably missed his debut entirely. Honestly, if you blink, he’s gone.
So, what’s Rogen actually doing in DC’s world?
Back when Supergirl was still in production, there were vague whispers about Seth Rogen popping up. Some did wonder if he’d be Krypto (which, let’s be honest, would have been brilliant casting for a talking space dog). The reality, though, is far less headline-grabbing but still quietly amusing if you love a good cameo trope:
- Rogen pops up as a voice actor, not as any main villain or hero.
- He voices a pint-sized alien who helps drive an intergalactic bus. And yes, that’s as weird as it sounds – it’s got absolutely nothing to do with Krypto or any major DC deep-cut. No cape, no laser vision, just behind the wheel (sort of).
- The scene: Kara Zor-El (that’s Supergirl, if you’re not up on your Kryptonians) and Ruthye Marye Knoll hitch a ride on this cosmic bus while chasing after Krem, and Rogen’s little alien helps out. He’s in and out before you can even finish your popcorn.
Rogen, Resident Cameo King
If you’re thinking this is a bit random for Rogen, it’s not actually all that out of left field. The bloke’s racked up a pretty long list of voice roles now – from Kung Fu Panda to The Lion King (the newer one), The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Monsters vs. Aliens, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Invincible, just to name a few. Not to mention, he’s always game for a cameo, sometimes popping up even where you’d least expect him.
Of course, if you’re more into his traditional stoner-comedy phase, there’s Superbad, Pineapple Express, Knocked Up, Neighbors – the classics never really go away.
At the minute, he’s starring in Apple TV+’s The Studio as Matt Remick. He co-wrote that series with his regular collaborator Evan Goldberg, plus Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. Apparently, he’s been cleaning up on Emmy awards for that performance too. Not too shabby for a guy best known for his laugh and questionable taste in trousers.
