Rosario Dawson talks cut Spider-Man 4 scene, says ‘I’m a reject’
Typical superhero multiverse, really: you exist… unless you don’t.
Rosario Dawson's got herself in a rather odd spot with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. You won’t see her on screen, but it turns out she actually filmed a scene, back in the Claire Temple scrubs from her Netflix Daredevil days – and then ended up on the cutting room floor.
That Missing Scene
Dawson explained the whole business at a Daredevil Fan Q&A during GalaxyCon Raleigh 2026. She shot her bit as Claire, meant to meet Spider-Man in a hospital after the webhead tangled with Scorpion. Would've been the third major Daredevil element jumping to the MCU films recently, right behind the Punisher and the Hand rocking up. But as it stands, none of us are getting to see it.
She didn’t exactly hide her disappointment either. She’d even queued up family photos and social media posts for her grandson, who's apparently massive on Spider-Man. It’s the sort of thing that’d properly wind you up as an actor, but she seems to have found some peace – or at least a bit of resignation about existing somewhere out there in Marvel's ever-expanding continuity tree.
Here’s how Dawson summed up the whole biz, speaking at GalaxyCon:
I’m a reject of Spider-Man, and I’m a reject of The Devil’s Rejects. … Because everybody’s in it, it still means that my character is somewhere in the universe. And I really love that. So I hope I get to be Claire again. I feel like I get to have that with Claire and Ahsoka and a lot of different characters where they meet a lot of different people.
Comics, Family, and Maybe Another Shot
For Dawson, Spider-Man isn’t just another gig. Her uncle – Gustavo Vanquez – is a comic book artist, the one who first got her into Spider-Man as a kid. He’s penned titles like Defenders: Strange Heroes and What If? Spider-Man: Back in Black, so this all means a bit more to her than just a toss-away cameo.
Now, will she get another run as Claire Temple? No one’s saying for sure. Quite a few Marvel Netflix faces are resurfacing in Daredevil: Born Again season 3 next year, so the odds are at least better than zero.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, smashing records held by Avatar 2 and Avengers: Endgame.
And if you missed all the fuss: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still playing in cinemas, practically printing money, and yet it’s got Marvel old hands left on the edit room floor. Marvel, never change.
