Netflix has delayed Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson’s heist caper Here Comes the Flood — and the new date won’t thrill fans.

Bit of disappointing news if you were hoping to see Here Comes the Flood any time soon. The Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson heist film has had its release quietly shuffled down the line—again. If you were pencilling it in for next year, grab the eraser.

Netflix has moved the release of Here Comes the Flood to 2027, bumping it back from the original 2026 plan.

Another Delay for the Big Heist

So, what exactly happened? The film finished shooting in New Jersey earlier this year, wrapping up in late January after the cameras started rolling in September 2025. That should have given them plenty of time, but Netflix apparently wasn’t happy with either the breakneck post-production schedule or its crowded 2026 slate—especially with awards season in the mix. As a result, they’ve kicked the can well into 2027, and there’s still no exact premiere date on the books.

Here Comes the Flood comes from Fernando Meirelles, the Oscar-nominated director behind City of God and The Two Popes, with the script by Simon Kinberg (you know, the bloke who wrote X-Men: Days of Future Past). It’s not your garden variety heist flick, either—the story bounces about in time, focusing on a bank guard, a thief, and a teller, getting caught up in a tangle of cons, double-crosses and ever-shifting alliances.

The cast besides Washington and Pattinson isn’t exactly slouching about either: we’ve got Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sean Harris, and Danai Gurira all along for the ride.

What the Stars Are Up To

  • Robert Pattinson is having a frankly manic couple of years. He's had The Drama (co-starring Zendaya) raking in more than $132 million at the global box office, and The Odyssey—Christopher Nolan's epic—already notched up a massive $1.1 billion in its first month. Pattinson’s no sign of slowing down with Primetime, Dune: Part Three, and he’s currently filming The Batman: Part II.
  • Denzel Washington hasn’t exactly been twiddling his thumbs either. He starred in Ridley Scott's Gladiator II back in 2024, then was front and centre in Highest 2 Lowest in 2025, playing David King. Plus, he made a return to the Broadway stage last year with Othello.

There’s no official release date yet, just a moving target somewhere out in 2027. If you’re wondering why all this keeps shifting, it’s down to Netflix’s strategy dance, jostling for the best spot in the calendar. Awards, competition, and post-production headaches—the usual, really.
