House of Guinness is back on tap: Netflix has renewed Stephen Knight’s hit historical drama for Season 2 and locked in a production window after its standout debut last year.

Good news for anyone who likes their period dramas with a pint of intrigue: Netflix is officially bringing back House of Guinness for a second round. If you were expecting a quick turnaround, though, temper your excitement—the cameras aren't rolling just yet.

The Lowdown: What and When?

Netflix has confirmed House of Guinness Season 2 is happening, courtesy of Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. What's less thrilling is the timeline: proper production isn't even starting until early 2027. Yes, you read that right. So any hopes of bingeing a fresh batch of family scheming this side of the decade are definitely dashed.

What is House of Guinness?

For the uninitiated, the show is set in 19th-century Dublin and follows the descendants of the Guinness brewing dynasty. Think posh Irish family, a freshly vacant patriarch-shaped space, and a big stash of brewery money up for grabs. After Sir Benjamin Guinness kicks the bucket, his offspring go to war (mostly metaphorically, sometimes less so) over his empire.

It's stylish, it's melodramatic, and—let's be honest—it leans hard into the 'Peaky Blinders but Irish and with more stout' sort of vibe. Netflix seems quite chuffed by those frequent comparisons, for the record.

Heavyweight Cast

Series one had a solid ensemble, including:

  • Anthony Boyle
  • Louis Partridge
  • Emily Fairn
  • Fionn O'Shea
  • James Norton
  • Niamh McCormack
  • Jack Gleeson
  • Seamus O'Hara
  • Michael McElhatton
  • David Wilmot
  • Dervla Kirwan
  • Danielle Galligan
  • Ann Skelly

It was eight episodes of all-out sibling backstabbing, with some sharp supporting turns and enough period costumes to make your head spin.

How did it go down?

Pretty well, actually. Critics handed over decent praise, with the show pulling a strong 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. So if you need another drama set in an era with questionable medical understanding and impressive facial hair, you could do worse.

Netflix’s content boss has publicly nodded along to all the Peaky Blinders comparisons. And to be fair, you can see why—it’s got that same moody lighting and old-school gangster energy, just with fewer Birmingham accents and a lot more talk about hops.

Long-Term Plans and Side Projects

Steven Knight has no small ambitions. He’s gone on record saying he’s mapped the story all the way through to the 1960s—and he's aiming for four full seasons. In his words:

'We are going to do season two and three and four ... we are going to do this all the way to the 1960s.'

Knight also made a point of his own fascination with the Guinness clan, saying he’s keen to see the saga through and really flesh out the characters.

If you're wondering why there’s such a long wait, it might be because Knight’s got another minor job on his plate: he's penning the next James Bond film. So, priorities, obviously.

When is it actually coming?

No official release window for House of Guinness Season 2 yet—just the rough production date in early 2027. Until then, you’ll just have to be patient and rewatch season one if you’re desperate for more Guinness family drama.
