Megyn Kelly mocks Meghan Markle’s MasterChef cameo, calls ‘Duchess’ credit ‘so poorly done’
Megyn Kelly has laid into Meghan Markle’s MasterChef Australia cameo on her podcast, fixating on a production choice rather than anything that actually got cooked.
If you blinked and missed Meghan Markle popping up on MasterChef Australia, don’t worry – Megyn Kelly didn’t. And she had plenty to say about it, obviously. The episode, filmed during the show’s big April 2026 Australia sweep, grabbed some not-so-flattering attention before it even went to air, and Megyn Kelly was straight into it as soon as it landed.
Cooking Up Trouble
This all unfolded on The Megyn Kelly Show, where Megyn roped in Dan Wootton for backup. Both of them weren’t short of opinions about Meghan’s cameo. First up was the confusion surrounding how she was announced on the show. There’d apparently already been fuss in the press about it – something about the way her presence was introduced set people off.
During The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly said: "Meghan Markle finally made her long-awaited appearance on MasterChef Australia. It has now been released. When she taped it, it was so poorly done that it made news because there was an issue about how they announced her."
Dan Wootton claimed on air that the real issue was Meghan allegedly not wanting to be introduced as royal, and then pivoted to the ever-contentious topic of her commercial use of her title. He basically argued she was back to trading on being the Duchess, and that the whole thing ignored the 2020 Sandringham Summit handshake that was supposed to keep her from monetising the royal connection.
Wootton chimed in: "She wasn't doing this for altruistic reasons. She's not donating her fee to a charity. This is straight money in her pocket."
Chef’s Personal Touch – Or Lack Thereof?
Megyn Kelly later had a pop at Meghan’s supposed lack of culinary chops. Apparently, Markle couldn’t name a favourite meal her family loves, which Kelly found a bit fishy. Even Megyn said she doesn’t cook much but still knows her own top five go-to meals, if you really twisted her arm (lasagna, for anyone at home keeping score).
It got stranger, because Kelly then accused Markle of recycling a well-known Martha Stewart recipe for one-pot pasta. For Megyn, this was absolute proof Meghan wasn’t brimming with her own kitchen wisdom when called on by the MasterChef gang.
Then the conversation veered into parenting territory. Kelly joked about Meghan’s comments regarding what her kids get for dessert, quipping the poor things would have to settle for anything you can pick off a tree. Wootton added that, in his view, Meghan doesn’t even really care about food, seeing it more as something to signal status than for actual enjoyment.
- Meghan Markle guest judged an episode of MasterChef Australia filmed in April 2026.
- Kelly and Wootton slammed the style of Markle’s introduction and suggested she skirted the 2020 Sandringham agreement by exploiting her title.
- Wootton insisted the appearance was for profit, not charity.
- They questioned Markle’s authenticity as a cook and claimed she referenced a Martha Stewart pasta recipe as her “big” dish.
- Further criticism centred on her comments about what her children are allowed for dessert.
To round it all off, Kelly and Wootton threw in jabs about Markle’s attitudes towards food and even looped in her latest UK visit for good measure. None of it flattering, clearly – so anyone expecting a warm review of Meghan’s MasterChef Australia guest spot from Megyn Kelly will be left hungry.
