Turns out the Masters of the Universe post-credits stinger nearly lost its showstopper: She-Ra. Director Travis Knight says the fan-favorite’s big-screen debut almost didn’t make the cut.

If you stuck around after the credits in Masters of the Universe, you’ll know the film finally gave fans a cracking introduction to She-Ra, He-Man’s sister and an absolute legend in her own right. What you probably didn’t know is that her brief cameo very nearly didn’t happen at all—honestly, the whole thing was only just scraped together, literally as the crew were packing up.

She-Ra's Entrance: Held Together With Gaffer Tape and Hope

In a chat with GamesRadar+, director Travis Knight let slip just how chaotic She-Ra’s big-screen arrival was. He’d always pictured She-Ra being part of the film, but it turned out wrangling the rights was a bureaucratic headache. Here’s how he broke it down:

'I wanted to get her in the movie, [but] there was a very complicated rights thing... We did that with like no money, too. That was at the end of the shoot. We were just scrambling around trying to build a set and put a costume together because we finally got the rights to do it, and I mean, she looks great.'

That’s right—the Princess of Power’s debut was done on loose change and good intentions at the absolute tail end of filming, only made possible after some legal red tape finally got snipped.

Secrecy Levels: MI6 Style

Knight was so intent on keeping She-Ra’s cameo under wraps that almost nobody was allowed to see it in advance. It was left out of all early screenings, and even the studio had to wait for the final cut. For anyone interested in movie secrecy, this is about as clandestine as you get without code names and burner phones.

What About A Sequel? She-Ra Fans, Don’t Panic Just Yet

The director’s said that if there’s another film, She-Ra is going to be a key player—not just a quick cameo this time. Knight’s got firm plans:

'She is a character that is hugely important in the mythology of this world. If we told another story set in this universe, she would absolutely play a huge part of it. I know exactly where that would go.'

So basically, if a sequel does get greenlit, She-Ra isn’t just popping by—she’s moving in and redecorating.

Casting: Who Gets the Sword Next?

  • For the post-credits bit, Lauren Saliu suited up as She-Ra—just for that one surprise scene.
  • Knight already knows exactly who he wants to actually play She-Ra if (or when) a sequel happens, but he’s staying tight-lipped. 'I can’t jinx it, so I can’t say it. But I know exactly who it should be.'

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, Masters of the Universe landed in cinemas on 5 June 2026, and it’s still showing now.
