Netflix’s thriller hot streak isn’t letting up. The streamer just dropped another edge-of-your-seat binge that’ll lock your queue and steal your weekend.

Now, Netflix really doesn’t mess about when it comes to churning out a solid thriller, does it? Ever since His & Hers kicked off their 2024 schedule back in January, they’ve been loading up the platform with one binge-worthy show after another. The latest entry to muscle its way into your recommended queue is I Will Find You, and if you’re raising an eyebrow over whether it’s any good—well, you’re far from alone.

The Latest Netflix Hit That Actually Delivers

I Will Find You dropped onto Netflix on 18th June and, perhaps surprisingly, didn’t make a huge splash on social media in its first weekend. If you checked the Rotten Tomatoes audience score, you’d find it hovering at a perfectly ‘meh’ 67%. At first glance, you might have let this slip past. But—and here’s the kicker—according to Variety, the series did monster numbers: more than 24 million views right out of the gate.

To be slightly more precise, from 15th to 21st June, I Will Find You racked up over 20 million of those views just in its first four days. Let’s put that in perspective: the next highest performers were miles behind. Outlast: The Jungle got 3.9 million views, Sweet Magnolias Season 5 hit 3.5 million, and America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Season 3 had 3.2 million. It’s not even a contest.

What's The Story?

The plot won’t exactly fry your brain with originality: a man, locked away for killing his child, discovers the boy might actually be alive. He breaks out of prison on the classic mission to 1) clear his name and 2) find his kid. Sound familiar? That’s because it is. Really, it’s all in the delivery.

The original story comes from Harlan Coben’s novel, and the Netflix adaptation is steered by Robert Hull—yes, the bloke behind Once Upon a Time, Gossip Girl, and Gotham. So you know it’s got that slick, slightly pulpy, compulsively watchable energy you might expect from those particular CV credits.

Who's in it?

  • Sam Worthington as David Burroughs, carrying the whole ‘wronged dad with a mission’ thing with an intensity you probably didn’t know he had in him. Honestly, it’s a tightrope of emotion and he doesn’t lost his footing.
  • Britt Lower (you’ll know her from Severance)
  • Erin Richards
  • Logan Browning
  • Chi McBride
  • Milo Ventimiglia

With a supporting cast like that, you don’t get bored. Each of them actually digs into the script, so you don’t have that awkward feeling of watching big names phone it in for a quick paycheque.

Word of Mouth Power

The twist here isn’t on-screen, but off—it’s fascinating watching a series quietly blow up with viewers despite barely causing a ripple in the usual online hype machine. Netflix’s big thrillers sometimes get a huge marketing push, but I Will Find You is gaining momentum largely because people are just telling their mates: 'You need to give this a go.'

If you’re on a run of Netflix thrillers this year and haven’t given this one a spin, don’t be surprised if you find yourself sucked in for all three episodes before you know what’s happened.
