Supergirl starring Milly Alcock crash-landed at the box office, but the DCU is already lining up a fresh slate of films.

If you’d told most DC fans back in 2023 that by 2026 we’d be in limbo again over the state of Warner’s superhero universe, people probably would’ve laughed you out of the room—myself included. But here we are: two major films scrapped, a thoroughly underwhelming Supergirl run at the box office, and the whole machine now potentially up for grabs if Paramount and Warner Bros. decide to finally tie the knot. DC Studios, at least, does have the benefit of several films on the go at once, so it’s not all doom and gloom—just more chaos than even the Joker might manage.

So, what’s the current lay of the land for the DCU’s slate of upcoming films, with a big asterisk on ‘upcoming’? Here’s how the schedule stands—feature films only, mind—because if we start talking telly, Elseworlds spin-offs or animation, we’ll be here all year.

What’s Official (For Now): Upcoming DCU Films

  • Clayface (23 October 2026):
Things are about to get a bit stickier (literally). After two solid outings for Superman, DCU’s third mainline film heads to Gotham—but not for the Caped Crusader. This one’s all about Clayface, with Tom Rhys Harries starring as Matt Hagan, a struggling actor whose ‘miracle cure’ transforms him into a mound of living clay. James Watkins directs in what sounds like proper body-horror territory, based on a story from Mike Flanagan. It’s a full-blooded R-rated horror flick, with no capes in sight, marking the DCU’s first proper experiment with the genre. Frankly, if this one pulls in an audience, anything goes.

  • Man of Tomorrow (11 July 2027):
If you loved last year’s Superman, James Gunn’s back for the next serving—with David Corenswet’s Superman teaming up with Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor to stop Brainiac (Lars Eidinger). That’s right: Supes and Lex as co-leads, and this time Luthor finally gets the comics-accurate green-powered suit in live-action. Aaron Pierre returns as John Stewart (after Lanterns), Milly Alcock’s Supergirl is back, and Adria Arjona’s in the mix (potentially as Maxima or even Wonder Woman). It’s pure comic book escalation—not quite Justice League, but certainly getting there. Fingers crossed it goes smoother than Warner’s last ‘Superman sequel to a massive crossover’ attempt.

Still In The Pipeline (But With a Bit Less Certainty)

Beyond what’s got a release date, DC Studios claims to be busy behind the scenes—but with the churn rate lately, I’d keep pencil and eraser handy for these.

The Brave and the Bold (Release TBA)

First teased in the big 2023 slate, this should finally bring Batman properly into the new DCU, but with a twist: Robin is Damian Wayne, Bruce’s son—so don’t expect Dick Grayson nostalgia. Andy Muschietti (fresh off The Flash) is on board to direct, script by Christina Hodson (The Flash/Birds of Prey). No Batman cast yet, and word is it’s on ice until Matt Reeves drops The Batman – Part II in October 2027. Warner doesn’t want Batmen crowding each other out.

Wonder Woman (Release TBA)

There’s a prequel series coming (Paradise Lost), but the main Wonder Woman film will start fresh—definitely not the long-discussed Wonder Woman 3, as Patty Jenkins herself confirmed. Ana Nogueira, who did the Supergirl screenplay, is writing this too. All we know for now: it’s been put on the fast track, but don’t expect it tomorrow.

Teen Titans (Release TBA)

Announced in March 2024, though details are thinner than the plot to Suicide Squad. Nogueira’s got the scripting gig, but she’s apparently focused on Wonder Woman first. Given The Brave and the Bold might introduce Damian, Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon and maybe even Tim Drake, don’t rule out the Titans roster pulling from there.

Swamp Thing (Release TBA)

Once upon a time, this was supposed to be a cornerstone of the new DCU, with James Mangold on board as director. He came onboard days after the 2023 slate—calls it his passion project, and the plan is to take the Alan Moore route, so expect full-blown horror and, if done justice, something genuinely out there. But then in 2025, Mangold signed a first-look deal with Paramount, which may or may not be buying Warner Bros. anyway, putting Swamp Thing’s fate anyone’s guess. That hasn’t stopped Mangold from publicly professing commitment; it just means actual updates have dried up.

Deathstroke and Bane Villain Team-Up (Release TBA)

This one’s an oddity. In September 2024, word broke that Matthew Orton (he did Captain America: Brave New World) was writing a team-up film for Deathstroke and Bane. James Gunn denied that it’s strictly about those two, but admitted it’d be pretty similar. The speculation? We’re probably looking at a take on 'Salvation’s Run', where a bunch of DC’s nastiest are dropped onto a prison planet to fend for themselves—something already teased in Peacemaker season two. Latest rumour in May 2026 had Greg Mottola (Superbad) in the frame to direct, but nothing official yet. Post-Supergirl’s box office bellyflop, apparently DC’s bumped this up the priorities list—so expect villains aplenty if it moves ahead as planned.
