Stranger Things star David Harbour addresses Daily Mail claims he harassed and bullied Millie Bobby Brown on set, stressing their close bond — I love her.

Here's one you probably did not have on your 2026 TV drama bingo card: David Harbour — yes, the big, beardy fella from 'Stranger Things' — found himself at the centre of a fairly surreal rumour mill involving alleged harassment and bullying of Millie Bobby Brown. It's always the ones who play the most stoic dads on screen, isn't it?

Now, before anyone runs off to start unpicking their Hopper-and-Eleven fan art, let's be clear: none of this came from Brown herself. The whole thing kicked off when The Daily Mail (of course) ran a piece claiming Harbour had been accused of harassing and bullying Brown during their years filming together. Only, when you dig a bit deeper — as one tends to do when the internet gets noisy — there's not much to the story. It was an unnamed source, not Millie, and supposedly involved some sort of formal complaint made before they shot the final season.

Actual Words from the People Involved

Millie Bobby Brown, who, frankly, always sounds more together than most adults twice her age, set the record straight in a chat with Deadline. She was direct: 'I feel safe with everyone on that set… We’ve worked together for 10 years.' She explained that the bond with Harbour is a natural by-product of acting as father and daughter across so many seasons, especially with some of the emotionally heavier scenes they had — Season 2 particularly sticking out there. In short: no problems, nothing untoward, and, honestly, it sounds like she would say so if there had been.

Harbour’s Take: If Anything, It’s Family Business

Harbour spoke to Variety and labelled the whole story as 'false reporting' and 'a weird thing' that cropped up in an even weirder way. His own words:

'You’ll see more of me and Millie — 10 years wasn’t enough. There is a special bond there. I love her. She loves me.'

No ambiguity there. He went on to point out that when you work together for a decade, especially during someone’s teenage years, of course there are moments where you clash. Show me any family or long-term friendship where there hasn’t been a spat or two. The difference, he says, is that when your 'family' is also part of a billion-dollar TV set, small disagreements can get blown up absurdly by all the people watching from the sidelines.

He described one moment as a 'simple rupture-and-repair thing' — basically, a row, a quick talk to clear the air, and business as usual. His take on it all: 'It was completely normal, and we adore each other and always have.'

The Working Relationship

  • Harbour and Brown have worked together for a full decade, starting from her early teens right through to the end of the series.
  • Brown says her relationship with Harbour became increasingly collaborative over the years, especially as she grew up on set. They both pushed each other in some tough scenes.
  • According to both of them, any friction was brief and part of the normal back-and-forth you'd expect when stuck together so long, with nothing rising to the level of anything close to bullying or harassment.

What's genuinely odd here is how quickly a routine disagreement between two people who’ve spent the better part of their lives pretending to survive the Upside Down turns into tabloid fodder. The actors themselves? Much more level-headed about it, and apparently still mates.
