Coronation Street's 2026 spoilers point to more than a few stars leaving
If it feels like Weatherfield has been haemorrhaging residents lately, that's because it has.
Between confirmed exits, budget-driven cuts, and storylines reaching their natural end, Coronation Street's 2026 cast list looks noticeably different from a year ago.
Here's who's already gone, who's on the way out, and what's driving the turnover.
The exits so far
The biggest departure came early. Daniel Brocklebank left the role of vicar Billy Mayhew after 11 years — killed off on 5 January 2026 when villain Theo Silverton left him trapped in a burning van. Brocklebank posted an emotional goodbye on Instagram, calling his time on the cobbles "a blink" and saying he'd adored every moment.
Other confirmed departures:
- Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) — left in late 2025, with storylines wrapping into early 2026.
- Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) — found dead on 23 April 2026, kicking off a six-suspect murder mystery. Cartwright had joined on a finite contract.
- Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) — returned for a short prison stint, then departed again in early April. Hegarty confirmed her exit on the Girlfriend Material podcast.
- Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) — sentenced and written out quickly after a brief run.
And the departures from late 2025 still ripple through current storylines: Max Turner (Paddy Bever), Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King), Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain), and Jenny Connor (Sally-Ann Matthews) all left the cobbles last year.
Who's leaving next?

Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) is confirmed to depart this summer. Sweeney is joining the UK tour of Annie the Musical as Miss Hannigan — a role she's long wanted to play. Producers have promised an "explosive" exit storyline.
Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) has a longer runway. Her young-onset dementia diagnosis will progress over the next few years — writer Jonathan Harvey confirmed the story will continue "well into 2027." No exit date has been set, but the trajectory is clear.
The ITV budget factor
In July 2025, reports emerged that ITV planned to cut roughly one in ten cast members across both Coronation Street and Emmerdale, as part of £15 million in savings across both soaps. Some longer-serving actors have contracts; many are paid per episode and more exposed to reductions. The full impact of those cuts is still playing out through 2026.
Who's arriving?
Not all the traffic is one-way. Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) arrived in January 2026 as Shona Platt's half-sister, bringing dark secrets and immediate consequences. Mal (Tim Treloar, from Call the Midwife) showed up at the end of January with a bombshell for a grieving Bernie. Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), introduced as Kevin and Debbie's estranged brother, has since been revealed as Debbie's son — born in 1986 and hidden from almost everyone.
Producer Kate Brooks has also teased a flash-forward episode featuring an unidentified dead body and five potential victims. The cobbles aren't getting quieter any time soon.
