Apple TV+ has finally set when Ted Lasso is back, slipping the timing into a cheeky teaser that suggests Richmond’s fight is far from over.

Three years after what was meant to be its grand farewell, Ted Lasso is making a comeback. For those who managed to miss the phenomenon, it's that Apple TV show where an American football coach—famously positive, utterly clueless about British football—takes charge of a struggling team in England.

When it first arrived in 2020, at the height of the lockdown mess, it was almost unnervingly wholesome, with Ted going around changing hearts (and club fortunes) entirely through kindness and daft ideas. The critics and awards judges bought in—those first two series smashed it at the Emmys and the Golden Globes. By series three, though, even die-hard fans could tell things weren't quite so magical. But here we are, thanks to public demand, prepping for a fourth series—Apple has given it the nod, and everyone is curious to see if they've recaptured that early cheerfulness.

Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres August 5, 2026, but it will actually be streamable from August 4, 2026, thanks to Apple TV's early release trick.

When to Watch, Where to Find It

Season 4 drops on Wednesday, 5 August 2026—but as Apple TV likes to sneak episodes out a bit early, each new one will actually land on the platform by 9 p.m. ET (that's 2 a.m. if you’re in the UK) the night before. If you’re sharp with your calendar, that’s Tuesday, August 4th for the official streamable debut. One new episode each week, old school. Altogether, you get 10 in the season, finishing up on 7 October 2026 (or again, the sneaky night before if you’re keeping count via Apple’s side of things).

  • Episode 1 ("Home") – 5 August 2026
  • Episode 2 ("Curiouser and Curiouser!") – 12 August 2026
  • Episode 3 ("Richmond's Got Talent") – 19 August 2026
  • Episode 4 ("Greyhound's Day Off") – 26 August 2026
  • Episode 5 – 2 September 2026
  • Episode 6 – 9 September 2026
  • Episode 7 – 16 September 2026
  • Episode 8 – 23 September 2026
  • Episode 9 – 30 September 2026
  • Episode 10 – 7 October 2026

What’s Actually Happening This Time?

This new run is a bit of a reboot for Ted Lasso. Instead of hanging round Richmond, Ted’s now in charge of a Division 2 women's team—classic 'fish out of water' again, because why mess with a working formula? They haven’t let slip exactly what drags Ted back to the UK after he supposedly packed it in for Kansas at the end of series three, but that’s the main hook this time round. Lots of fans are hoping they can get back to that unlikely charm of the early episodes, instead of the slightly overcooked vibe of series three.

The main cast is (mostly) back: Jason Sudeikis is, of course, Ted himself. Hannah Waddingham returns as Rebecca—she's been off on Ride or Die over at Prime Video, but she’s carved out time for this one. Brett Goldstein is back grumbling as Roy Kent, Juno Temple as the ever-unpredictable Keely, Brendan Hunt returning as Coach Beard, and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins. They’re mixing in some new faces too—Tanya Reynolds, Abbie Hern, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey. One slightly odd detail: Ted’s son Henry is a much bigger deal this time, but the role's been quietly recast—Grant Feely replaces Gus Turner.

On the flip side, not everyone's coming back. Nick Mohammed (Nate Shelley) is out. Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt), also no-show this season (apparently scheduling issues, if you believe the press notes). If you were hoping for more from the Richmond squad—Toheeb Jimoh (Sam), Cristo Fernández (Dani), Kola Bokinni (Isaac), Billy Harris (Colin)—they’re not listed for main roles this time, though no one's ruling out the odd cameo or guest drop-in somewhere along the line.

No one's confirmed if this is just a one-off or whether we’re lining up for another three-season arc. The core creative team—Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly—are all present. For now, Apple’s keeping quiet about any long-term plans.
