In a new interview, Adria Arjona tackled the Wonder Woman rumours — swerving a straight answer but dropping a DCU tease that definitely won’t calm the speculation.

Here we go again with the DCU rumour mill, and this time it’s Adria Arjona right in the thick of it. With everything up in the air about who’ll play Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s reimagined cinematic universe, Arjona’s latest response hasn’t done much to put the speculation to bed—in fact, it’s made it more interesting if anything.

‘Funny that you asked me that. James gave me my first movie ever. The first movie I ever stepped on was a James Gunn and Peter Safran movie. So they are family. And I’m so happy to be a part of the DCU. I’m with family,’

That’s what Arjona told Entertainment Weekly: absolutely loaded with implication, but nothing in the way of a straight answer about Wonder Woman. If you’re keeping score, that’s not a confirmation, not a denial—just a reminder she’s tight with Gunn and Safran, who are steering the DC Studios ship. For context, Gunn cast her in his 2021 'The Suicide Squad' and produced 'The Belko Experiment,' so she’s not kidding about the family ties.

The Role Roulette

The Hollywood Reporter claimed her role in Man of Tomorrow (slated for 2027) is still a secret. Meanwhile, Deadline and Variety have both insisted she’s in for Maxima (a Superman villainess from the comics, if you’re not fluent in obscure DC lore). Gunn himself has already swatted away the Maxima screen-test rumours—apparently Arjona, Marisa Abela, and Ella Purnell weren’t even lined up against each other for the part, despite what the trades said.

The Boyfriend’s Blunder?

If you thought the rumour-mongering ended there: no. Jason Momoa, Arjona’s boyfriend (and Aquaman turned DCU hopeful Lobo), lobbed in his own bit of mischief. Chatted up by ScreenRant about which DCU characters his Lobo should go toe-to-toe with, he said:

'Wonder Woman would be just as great.'

But it didn’t stop there. When reporters hinted at the idea of Arjona actually playing Wonder Woman, all he’d add—twice, for maximum effect—was ‘She’s hot.’ Not exactly subtle.

Behind the Scenes

Gunn himself hasn’t exactly been low-key about his affection for Arjona’s acting chops either. A year ago, in conversation with Extra, he dropped that she’d make a 'great' Wonder Woman. Still, not a peep since about what she’s actually booked for—at least not officially. The next Wonder Woman film is very much alive behind the scenes, with screenwriter Ana Nogueira handling the script, but casting news remains stubbornly under wraps.
