Who’s in The Batman 2? Every Confirmed Star and the Big Returns to Watch
Matt Reeves has locked the lineup joining Robert Pattinson for The Batman: Part II. Cameras roll in England next month, with Gotham back on screens October 1, 2027.
The Bat-light's back on over Gotham, and yes, Robert Pattinson is finally dusting off the cape and cowl for ‘The Batman: Part II’. After what's felt like ages (seriously – he first showed up as Bruce in 2022), there's finally some solid news about who’ll be joining him for the next dark and brooding stroll through Gotham’s meanest streets. Let’s get into it.
The Returning Faces
Naturally, Pattinson is on board as the World’s Most Brooding Detective. Alongside him, you’ve got Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon (still probably questioning why he never transferred to Metropolis), Andy Serkis as the ever-suffering Alfred, Colin Farrell reprising his prosthetic-wearing exploits as the Penguin, Jayme Lawson back as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as GCPD’s Martinez, who’s no doubt regretting his career decisions at this point.
The New Blood
Here’s where things get genuinely interesting: Warner Bros. has somehow managed to poach three big names from the Marvel camp. That’s right — Scarlett Johansson is coming on board, not twirling around in a catsuit this time, but reportedly as Gilda Dent. Sebastian Stan, fresh from pretending that Bucky isn’t just always sad, is set to play Harvey Dent. Yes, two Dents. Let the speculation begin.
Brian Tyree Henry — who’s made just about every role he’s touched in the last few years ten times more interesting — is also jumping ship from Marvel to DC. His character’s still under wraps, so who knows, maybe he’ll be stirring up trouble at City Hall or lurking behind a mask.
And it wouldn’t be a proper Bat-affair without a slightly older British actor: Charles Dance has apparently joined the party, rumoured as Christopher Dent (no prizes for guessing which side of the family tree he’s on). Sebastian Koch (you might remember him from ‘Bridge of Spies’) is also in the mix. Who’s he playing? At this point, your guess is as good as mine.
So, Who’s Missing?
There’s still radio silence on a few big names from the last round. Barry Keoghan’s Joker got that cheeky little tease at the end of the first film and an even better deleted scene, so it’d be a bit mad if Reeves didn’t let him out of his cell for at least another scene or two. I’d honestly be more disappointed about not seeing more of Keoghan’s take than whatever new Bat-gadget they try to flog in the next toy line.
Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman and Paul Dano’s Riddler? Not confirmed either way, but you’d have to imagine they wouldn’t pass up a chance for a quick Gotham cameo. That city doesn’t exactly have a glut of A-list villains after all.
And, in what’s probably the only outright snub — Cristin Milioti will not be back as Sofia Falcone. It’s not a rumour, that’s a definite: Matt Reeves has said so himself, despite fans clamouring after her Emmy-winning turn in ‘The Penguin’ spin-off.
Mark Your Calendar
Production on ‘The Batman: Part II’ is meant to kick off in England next month, so expect grainy spy shots of Pattinson shivering outside some gothic manor soon enough. The studio’s given the sequel an October 1, 2027 release date. Yes, that’s three years away. You can probably squeeze in another Reeves slow-burn detective yarn before then.
