When a prestige drama ends its first run, the standard streaming wait is two years — sometimes more. Fans of Michael Fassbender's spy thriller braced for exactly that. They got a much better deal.

The short answer

The Agency season 2 was released on 21 June 2026, exclusively on Paramount+ — all 10 episodes at once. That's roughly a year and a half after season 1 premiered in December 2024, and the whole thing is available to binge right now.

The wait, and why it felt risky

Season 1 debuted on 1 December 2024 on Paramount+ with Showtime and became the most-streamed new series in Showtime history, pulling 5.1 million global viewers in its first weekend. Paramount renewed it within days, in December 2024 — and then went quiet for well over a year. The premiere date was only announced on 19 May 2026, alongside the first trailer, giving fans barely a month's notice.

What's changed for season 2

Quite a lot, actually, and mostly in viewers' favour:

  • Binge release — season 1 rolled out weekly; season 2 dropped all 10 episodes on day one, 21 June 2026.
  • No add-on needed — in 2024 you needed the Showtime tier; season 2 streams on any standard Paramount+ plan, rebranded as a Paramount+ Original.
  • A bigger canvas — the new season centres on a mole hunt inside the CIA's London station, alongside Martian's desperate effort to free Samia, a political prisoner in Sudan.

Who's back?

Fassbender returns as Martian, with Jeffrey Wright as Henry, Richard Gere as Bosko, Jodie Turner-Smith as Samia, and Katherine Waterston as Naomi. New faces include Clayne Crawford, Raza Jaffrey, and Medalion Rahimi. Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth still write, with George Clooney and Grant Heslov executive producing — and it all remains an adaptation of the acclaimed French series The Bureau.

Do you need to rewatch season 1 first?

Paramount+ says no — season 2 introduces its own conflict and characters, so newcomers can jump straight in. Season 1 remains available on the platform if you'd rather do it properly.

For the record: critics were slightly cooler this time — season 2 sits at 68% on Rotten Tomatoes — but with ten episodes ready to go, at least nobody's waiting a week to find the mole.
