Netflix’s Wednesday is upping the ante for Season 3, enlisting a Game of Thrones alum and two more heavy hitters to join Jenna Ortega in the hit supernatural mystery from creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

'Wednesday' is back in the headlines with a trio of pretty surprising new faces joining for Season 3. If you thought the cast was already stacked, Netflix clearly disagrees—they just announced some seriously recognizable names that are about to stroll into Nevermore.

Fresh Blood for Season 3

So, who’s making waves this time? Here you go:

  • Lena Headey (yes, Cersei herself from 'Game of Thrones' and, if you remember, was Sarah Connor for TV)
  • Andrew McCarthy ('Pretty in Pink,' 'St. Elmo’s Fire,' 'Weekend at Bernie’s'—the 80s icon)
  • James Lance (Trent Crimm from 'Ted Lasso'—possibly the friendliest reporter TV ever gave us)

As of now, Netflix isn’t spilling the details on exactly who these three will be playing, which probably means at least one of them is showing up to complicate Wednesday’s already-messy life.

Who Else Is on Board?

Not to be outdone, Season 3 also shored up its cast with Eva Green, Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer popping in. No shortage of talent, but still: no character specifics for most of them, either.

Your returning favorites are back too, so don’t panic:

Jenna Ortega is still our girl Wednesday, with Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia) and Luis Guzmán (Gomez) returning to play her parents. Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, and Billie Piper all return, plus Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Joanna Lumley (yes, seriously, Grandmama), and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester, obviously). So, yes: the gang's all here, with some big new additions.

Context: The Story So Far

If you lost track in the streaming-content tsunami:

'Wednesday,' created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, started as a supernatural, murder-mystery spin on one of pop culture’s weirdest families. Season 1 hit Netflix in 2022. Season 2 landed last year. It’s already been greenlit for a third season (back in July 2025), and production is happening right now.

Yes, This Is a Power Play

It’s clear Netflix is swinging for the fences here. Bringing in Lena Headey means there’s potential for real gravitas wrapped up in all the supernatural nonsense (or at the very least, a side-eye better than anyone else on the planet). McCarthy and Lance, meanwhile, are wild cards—who doesn’t want to see what kind of character the guy from 'Weekend at Bernie’s' could bring to 'Wednesday'?

In case you needed reminders on those resumes: Headey doesn’t just do fantasy—she’s popped up everywhere from '300' to 'Dredd' to 'Fighting with My Family.' McCarthy is forever tied to the Brat Pack, while Lance’s Trent Crimm is probably the only TV journalist anyone’s ever trusted.

No Release Date Yet

There’s still no word on when the new season will actually drop. The cast is doing their thing now, but Netflix is playing coy about dates, as usual.

'We’re thrilled to bring even more chaos to Nevermore with this wild roster,' (which, let’s be honest, is probably what the producers want to say, but for now: we’re all just guessing who’s actually playing nice).

So until Netflix lets anything else slip, keep your eye on this one. With these additions, Season 3 might just be the weirdest (and maybe most fun) so far.
