Netflix’s high-tide hit Turn of the Tide left fans hooked as fisherman Eduardo and his crew turned a cocaine-strewn shoreline into a high-stakes hustle—now everyone’s waiting to see if season 4 sails ahead or gets beached.

So, you binged all of 'Turn of the Tide' and you’re wondering if there’s any chance for a Season 4. Let’s just cut straight to it: Netflix is definitely done with this one after Season 3. It’s not coming back for round four.

Why the Sudden Finale?

If you thought 'Turn of the Tide' was just picking up steam, you’re not alone. But turns out, this was always the plan. After the popular first season, Netflix quietly greenlit and shot Seasons 2 and 3 back-to-back. That’s actually confirmed by Diego Ávalos, who (brace yourself for the job title) is Netflix’s Vice President overseeing Spain, Portugal, and the Nordics. He pointed out that Netflix put real focus on making this Portuguese series a local success, especially given how much the story belongs to the Azores. In his words:

Super successful in Portugal, which is what we focus on, and we shoot between Lisbon and Azores because it’s really an Azores story.

So yeah, the show was made for the Portugal audience as much as for Netflix’s big international plans, and it worked. But you might not have realized: the network had no intention to drag it out year-after-year. This thing had a shelf life.

Where Season 3 Leaves Off

If you need a recap: the last season skips ahead, with Eduardo (that’s our sometimes-lucky fisherman) coming out of prison after three years. He returns to Rabo de Peixe and finds the place isn’t what he left. The island’s gone through its share of political and financial troubles, and everyday life has gotten a lot tougher, especially for local families.

Reuniting with his old friends, Eduardo dives into forming a new group called 'Night Justice.' The idea? Stand up for the regular folks and push back against the powers that be. But, naturally, as these good intentions spiral and the group’s actions get bolder, things get murky. Lines between hero and vigilante? Pretty much erased.

Who’s Who in Season 3

  • José Condessa
  • Helena Caldeira
  • Rodrigo Tomás
  • André Leitão
  • Maria João Bastos
  • Salvador Martinha
  • Afonso Pimentel
  • Kelly Bailey
  • Joaquim de Almeida
  • Ângelo Rodrigues
  • Inês Castel-Branco
  • Victoria Guerra

So yeah, that’s your main ensemble for the last go-round.

Bottom Line

If you’ve held out hope for another chapter, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that’s a hard no from Netflix. Season 3 is built to be the end, and they wrapped up all their cocaine-hijinks and community crusading where they wanted. Unusual? Sure, but it beats watching a great series limp along longer than it should.
