Timothée Chalamet discusses his dedication to acting, calling Marty Supreme his standout role and reflecting on a string of acclaimed performances over recent years.

Timothée Chalamet has never been shy about his ambitions, and his latest remarks only reinforce his commitment to his craft. In a recent interview with Margaret Gardiner—since removed from YouTube—Chalamet described his work in Marty Supreme as a personal high point.

This is probably my best performance, and it's been like seven, eight years that I feel like I've been handing in really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances. And it's important to say out loud because the discipline and the work ethic I'm bringing to these things, I don't want people to take for granted. I don't want to take for granted. This is really some top-level shit.

His comments follow a bold declaration at the SAG Awards, where he expressed his desire to be counted among the greats. The past several years have seen Chalamet take on a range of roles, each met with critical acclaim. His filmography during this period includes Dune, Dune: Part Two, Lady Bird, Beautiful Boy, The French Dispatch, Don't Look Up, Bones and All, and Wonka. Few would argue with his assessment of his own output.

Recognition and Awards

Earlier this year, Chalamet took home the SAG Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of a young Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, a film inspired by the book Dylan Goes Electric. Despite some criticism that followed his acceptance speech, he remained undeterred, stating his ongoing pursuit of excellence and his aspiration to join the ranks of the most respected actors.

Although he missed out on the Oscar to Adrien Brody the following week, Chalamet's performance in Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme has put him firmly back in the spotlight. The film has already secured three Golden Globe nominations: Best Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor – Musical or Comedy for Chalamet himself.

Marty Supreme: A New Challenge

Directed by Safdie and co-written with Ronald Bronstein, Marty Supreme offers a loose retelling of the life of Marty Reisman, the late table tennis star who rose to prominence in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The synopsis describes the story of

A young man with a dream no one respects goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.

The film is set for release in the United States on 25 December, with UK audiences able to catch it from 26 December. Chalamet's performance is already being tipped as one to watch, adding to his growing list of memorable roles.

Looking Ahead

With Marty Supreme generating considerable buzz and a host of nominations, Chalamet's career shows no sign of slowing. For those eager to see what comes next, there is already talk of the most anticipated films of 2025 and beyond, with Chalamet likely to remain a fixture on the big screen for years to come.
