The end is in sight for Mickey Haller — and at last there’s a clearer steer on when it arrives.

If you've been following The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix, you'll know it's been a reliable fixture in the streamer's criminal drama line-up since 2022. All about Mickey Haller – a defence barrister with a car habit and a tendency to run his legal business out of his Lincoln Town Car – the show’s managed not only solid reviews but also plenty of time in those omnipresent Top 10 lists. We’ve known for a while now that series five is coming, and, tough as it sounds, it’s also the last we’ll see of Mickey and co. But what Netflix hasn't told us – yet – is exactly when the curtain’s coming down. That’s where Michael Connelly himself comes in.

The Creator Spills the Beans

Connelly, the original author behind both the Mickey Haller books and the Bosch franchise (yes, that Bosch – also a TV hit over on Amazon), took matters into his own hands, release date-wise. While he was plugging his latest Harry Bosch novel, The Hollow, in Washington state, he gave fans a much-needed hint about when The Lincoln Lawyer will return to Netflix, sliding in the news during a Q&A. Here’s exactly what he said during the event, according to The Spokesman-Review:

During a Q&A in Spokane, Michael Connelly told fans: "There's a season that's finished for The Lincoln Lawyer. It'll come out in March."

So, barring any last-minute streaming curveballs, you can pencil in March 2027 as the month Haller gets back behind the wheel. Netflix haven’t gone on record about the date yet, but it’s safe to say Connelly’s a fairly reliable source given he writes the actual books.

Season five of The Lincoln Lawyer arrives in March 2027.

What Series 5 Will Cover

The final outing is set to be based on Resurrection Walk, which is Connelly’s seventh Haller novel. This time, Mickey’s defending a woman he believes has been wrongly convicted (a bit of a classic set-up for him), and we’re getting the standard order of ten episodes – no feature-length finale or double-bill launch. One new development is a greater focus on Emi Finch, played by Cobie Smulders, who, it turns out, is Mickey’s half-sister and pops up right at the end of season four. Before the bombshelly twist, Mickey didn’t even know she existed, and now she’s on the fast track to possible spin-off territory. Netflix is apparently grooming her to take over the story baton, with a solo project already in the early stages of development.

Who’s Back – and Who Isn’t

  • Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns as the headliner, still very much the man-in-the-car.
  • Becki Newton will be back playing ex-wife, Lorna Crane.
  • Angus Simpson comes in again as Dennis, Lorna’s other half.
  • Jazz Raycole reprises her turn as Izzy, Mickey’s ex-driver.

On top of that, brace yourself for an expanded guest cast, including Chris Diamantopoulos, Corbin Bernsen, Diane Guerrero, Iker Garcia, Patty Guggenheim, Richard Cabral, Steve Howey, Teresa Maria, Amy Aquino, Angela Trimbur, Elpidia Carillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer, and Keir O'Donnell. If you’re a spot-the-cameo type, you’ll be well fed here.

That’s the state of play for season five. If Netflix or Connelly get more specific with the actual March date, I’ll keep you posted.
