Enjoy the carnage while it lasts: Eric Kripke says The Boys will end with Season 5, and the series finale is now complete—kicking off the countdown to Prime Video’s blood-soaked goodbye.

Well, the word is out: The Boys is officially wrapping things up. If you’ve been hanging onto every cliffhanger and blown-up body part, brace yourself, because the end is closer than you think—and Eric Kripke, the showrunner himself, just confirmed it.

That’s All, Folks: The Final Season Is Locked

So here’s the current state of things: Eric Kripke dropped a photo on Instagram standing with the post-production crew, and he’s not mincing words. According to him, the very last tweaks—the color grading, VFX polish, you name it—on the very last episode are finished. The final season of The Boys isn’t just shot and edited; it’s 100% in the can, shipped off, and on its way to your TV screen soon.

In Kripke’s own words:

'The very last color tweaks on the very last VFX shots of the very last episode of #TheBoys. It’s now totally, completely 100% done. Out of our hands and heading into yours.'

That’s about as final as it gets—no more tinkering, no secret alternate endings, no “just kidding, one more episode.” It’s all over but the waiting. And yes, Kripke admits it finally hit him too. He didn’t get emotional until he finished that final drive away from the studio—then he got 'a lump in my throat.'

Appreciation Mode: Kripke Thanks the Team

In true end-of-an-era style, Kripke took a minute to thank pretty much everyone. He called The Boys 'the best professional experience of my life' and sent a shoutout to the cast, crew, and fans. If he sounds a little sentimental, well… can you blame him? After years of diabolical mayhem, it’s a lot to close the book on.

What’s Coming in Season 5?

  • Homelander is in full dictator mode. The man’s got complete control. Not exactly a great time for humanity.
  • Hughie, Frenchie, and Mother’s Milk are all locked up in something ominously called Freedom Camp.
  • Annie (Starlight) is running the resistance on the outside. We know how much she likes giving the finger to Vought.
  • Butcher is back, looking as rough as ever, and now he’s carrying around a virus that could wipe out every Supe. No way that’ll go smoothly.

And if you’re wondering about the cast, most of the heavy hitters are returning—no surprise there:

Karl Urban (Butcher), Jack Quaid (Hughie), Erin Moriarty (Annie/Starlight), and Antony Starr (Homelander) are all back in action. There are also some interesting new faces: Daveed Diggs, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins are joining the madness, so expect the usual off-the-wall energy with a few new tricks.

When Can You Watch?

April 8 is the big day—Season 5 premieres on Prime Video, so mark your calendars, clear your schedule, and maybe don’t get too attached to anyone.

If I’m being honest, the ride’s been wild. Whether the final season sticks the landing or blows everything up (literally or figuratively), it’s been one of TV’s more entertainingly unhinged runs. So settle in for the endgame—this is your last trip through Vought’s carnage-filled circus.
