The Boys Season 5 Star Finally Confirms a Key Detail About the Show’s Ending
With The Boys Season 5 on the horizon, Jack Quaid confirms the series will go out the way it came in—violently, unapologetically, and without pulling a single punch.
All right, if you were hoping The Boys would suddenly turn into a sweet little superhero fairy tale in its final season—yeah, about that. No. It’s The Boys. It’s always been about outrageous violence, jaw-dropping betrayals, and just about every creative way to make you wince, and that isn’t changing for Season 5.
No Happy Ending Here
Jack Quaid, who’s been playing long-suffering punching bag Hughie Campbell since the start, jumped on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon recently and didn’t mince words. When Fallon asked if fans could count on some sunshine and a warm fuzzy ending, Quaid just flat-out said:
'No, in no way. No, it’s The Boys. It’s not going to be a fairytale ending in any regard. This is the final season, and we really do mean that. There are characters, I won’t say who, who meet their end, and it’s crazy, it’s really, really nuts.'
Not subtle. If you expected your favorite misfits to ride into the sunset, rethink that plan.
Quaid even got weirdly sentimental (while soaked in fake blood, naturally), saying that it all got pretty emotional by the end. Apparently standing around drenched in goo really makes a guy nostalgic:
'It was emotional. I’m covered in blood a lot on the show, and it was so weird to be covered in blood and various goos, and then to just like also be emotional about that, where I’m like, "I’m really gonna miss this," and I’m just drenched head to toe. But it’s just been the honor of my life, I truly love the show and everyone involved.'
Other Voices, Same Vibe
Jack Quaid isn’t the only one sounding the warning. Erin Moriarty (Starlight) recently said fans will experience 'a lot of shock' in Season 5 and made it clear that things get, for lack of a better word, heavy. If sentimental feelings aren’t enough, even show creator Eric Kripke already put folks on notice, warning that you shouldn’t get too attached to anybody. Apparently, absolutely anyone can get the ax in the home stretch.
What to Expect (Besides Carnage)
- Season 5 is officially the final outing for The Boys, so don’t expect any ‘gotcha’ renewal afterward—this is it.
- Several characters are confirmed to die—no names mentioned, but the stakes are as high (and bloody) as ever.
- Lots of shocking moments and what sounds like a surprising amount of raw emotion. You might actually need tissues. Or a barf bag. Maybe both.
- Eric Kripke’s guidance still stands: if you love a character, you might want to prepare for heartbreak.
- The whole circus kicks off April 8, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
So yeah, get ready: The Boys is going out the same way it lived—loud, chaotic, unapologetically messy, and definitely not squeaky clean. If you wanted a fairy tale resolution, maybe try literally any other superhero show.
