Sebastian Stan is heading to Gotham in The Batman Part II, but the real buzz is the rogues gallery. A new report teases a bold new look for the villains and kicks up fresh mystery over who Stan will play.

Well, here we go again — the casting circus for The Batman Part II is in full swing, and if you thought you had it all figured out, think again. Sebastian Stan was apparently nailed on for the role of Harvey Dent (aka Two-Face), but now, it seems, we might have all been led up the garden path.

The Casting Whirlwind

Not long ago, everyone seemed convinced that Stan had bagged the Dent gig. It kicked off with a flurry of online rumours, then Matt Reeves himself confirmed Stan was on board, which everyone naturally took as code for, 'Yeah, it's Two-Face, isn’t it?' Now, though, we've got a fresh - and frankly, baffling - report that chucks all that out the window.

According to Jeff Sneider (who popped up on the Hot Mic podcast), a 'crazy email' landed in his inbox recently claiming that Stan won't actually be playing Harvey Dent at all. Instead, it says someone else has snagged the role, and Stan is taking on a completely different villain. As if that wasn’t odd enough, the email also reckons Charles Dance is set to play Scarlett Johansson's father, which, let’s be fair, sounds a bit left-field even by superhero sequel standards.

'I got an email this week. It was a f---ing crazy email. It said that someone else is playing Harvey Dent. And it said that Sebastian Stan was playing another villain and that Charles Dance is actually playing Scarlett Johansson’s father.'

Sneider warns, though, you'd need a 'huge grain of salt' to take it seriously. Then again, with Reeves keeping his cards close to his chest and offering zero confirmation, all bets are off.

Where Does This Leave Everyone?

At this point, we’ve got:

  • Deadline and other big outlets still confidently reporting that Stan is Harvey Dent
  • This new podcast tidbit, suggesting someone else is our Two-Face, with Stan earmarked for another villain entirely
  • Matt Reeves, the director, saying... well, pretty much nothing concrete

The bottom line? It’s as clear as mud. If this new twist is genuine, it trashes all those rumours about The Batman 2 focusing on Dent, his family and their ties to Gotham. Either Reeves is pulling an elaborate misdirection or it’s all just the usual Hollywood rumour mill spinning out of control.

Of course, there’s every chance the whole thing is nonsense, given that the tip-off came in via a wild email, and no one on the official side is confirming anything. Honestly, if you’re trying to keep track, the only consistent thing about all this talk is that no one seems to know the truth — and Reeves is clearly enjoying keeping us all guessing.

For now, your guess is as good as mine. Stay tuned, though. As soon as someone stops playing coy and tells us who’s actually who, you’ll hear it here.
