Inde Navarrette says she was never offered a role in Heat 2
After chatter that Marvel's X-Men movie meant she turned down a role in Heat 2, Inde Navarrette has set the record straight.
There have been all sorts of wild rumours swirling about Inde Navarrette and what exactly she’s been up to since blowing up with Obsession. Apparently, if you believed the fan chatter, she was suddenly fielding offers from every corner of Hollywood — with one supposed near-miss being a key part in Michael Mann’s long-awaited Heat 2. The word on the street was she had to turn down Mann’s film to make time for playing Rogue in Marvel’s next big X-Men reboot. Turns out, that story’s got more fiction to it than Heat’s script.
Inde Navarrette Sets the Record Straight
Navarrette herself finally weighed in during her stop on The Kyle Buchanan Show this week. Here’s her blunt-as-you-like answer on the Heat 2 chatter:
‘I’m glad that you brought it up because I can say it. No, I was not offered Heat 2,’ she said. ‘I auditioned, I want to say, for two months from April all the way up until — I don’t know if it had gotten cast, but it was just kind of no longer a conversation.’
She went on to talk about the audition process — not glamorous in the least. Multiple self-tapes, endless waiting, chasing feedback, and, in her words, just wanting to learn from the sheer scale of the cast Michael Mann was wrangling. None of those luxury problems of having to weigh up competing offers — no matter how much her profile’s grown. That’s Hollywood for you: doesn’t matter how far you’ve come, they’ll stall you or shut the door on you all the same.
Heat 2: Stacked Cast, But No Inde
The assembled line-up for Heat 2 really does read like a bit of a dream team — Leonardo DiCaprio’s stepping into Val Kilmer’s old shoes as Chris Shiherlis, Christian Bale’s playing Vincent Hanna in the part made famous by Al Pacino, and Stephen Graham is now Neil McCauley (the OG De Niro role). It’s not stopping there. The film’s also got Jason Clarke, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Odessa Young, and every bit of press is keen to stress this one is finally moving after endless delays. Stephen Graham himself recently said the cameras should start rolling January 2027.
Heat 2 aims to start principal photography in January 2027, according to Stephen Graham.
Marvel’s X-Men: Rogue’s New Era
What Navarrette is doing is suiting up as Rogue — and that is very much locked in. She joins a fresh X-Men team, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott tackling Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver having a go as Mister Sinister. Jake Schreier, who most recently directed Thunderbolts*, is in the director’s chair for this one, and Marvel have ringed 5 May 2028 on the calendar for release.
