Send Help’s Alternate Ending Delivers One Last High-Stakes Showdown For Rachel McAdams
Fresh off its digital release, 20th Century Studios has unveiled an alternate ending for Sam Raimi’s Send Help, adding a final, nerve-shredding confrontation for Rachel McAdams ahead of the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD drop on April 21.
So, if you're like me and you have a weak spot for both Sam Raimi's weirdo sense of humor and those 'people stranded on a deserted island' setups, you were probably either first in line for Send Help or at least heard a bunch about it. The movie's been out digitally for a little while, but now 20th Century Studios is teasing us with something new: a deleted scene that gives us an alternate ending to the film. They dropped this clip just before the movie hits 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on April 21. Because of course, if there's another way a horror comedy could end, Raimi's going to want you to see it.
What is Send Help, Again?
Quick refresher: Two business colleagues (played by Rachel McAdams and Dennis Haysbert) are the only survivors of a plane crash on some totally deserted island. Corporate beef turns into a darkly funny, psychological game of survival. Basically, 'what if your worst coworker was also your only shot at living?' If you've spent time in an open office, that's arguably a horror scenario all on its own.
The Alternate Ending: More Scheming, More Shade
About that new clip: EW got their hands on a scene where Rachel McAdams's character, Linda, and Dennis Haysbert's Franklin are still going toe-to-toe. This time, Franklin tries to twist the knife a bit—he’s got dirt on Bradley’s fiancée, Zuri (for those keeping score at home, Bradley gets played by Dylan O'Brien). Franklin tries classic blackmail. Linda just smirks and serves up a counter-threat, almost unfazed—like two chess masters who’d rather kill each other than share a coconut.
'When two business colleagues become stranded on a deserted island as the only survivors of a plane crash, they must overcome past grievances and work together to stay alive. But they’re not in the office anymore, and an unsettling, wryly humorous battle of wills and wits begins in this original, darkly comedic psychological thriller.'
If you like your psychological thrillers with a twist of corporate spite and a dash of malicious compliance, that pretty much nails it.

If You Want to See This Scrapped Ending
The new clip is floating around online now, basically teeing up an even darker power struggle between Linda and Franklin. If you’ve ever wanted to see Rachel McAdams and Dennis Haysbert act like two master negotiators with zero rules left, it’s worth checking out. (And, let’s be honest, alternate endings are usually just the director’s way of going 'here’s the version the studio wouldn’t let me show you.')
Anyway, that Blu-ray drops April 21 if you want all the deleted scenes, director’s commentary, and whatever other extras Raimi felt like throwing in this time.
