Spider-Man: Homecoming swings onto Peacock on Monday, June 1, bringing the $880 million MCU smash featuring Robert Downey Jr. to streaming just ahead of the franchise’s fourth installment in July.

Just when you thought streaming rights couldn’t shuffle things around any more than they already have, one of Marvel’s biggest crowd-pleasers is swinging over to a new platform. 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' – yes, the one with the high school awkwardness and Tony Stark playing mentor/dad – is finally set to land on Peacock. Conveniently timed, of course, because there’s a fourth film barrelling towards cinemas later this summer.

'Homecoming' lands on Peacock

According to Peacock’s schedule, you’ll be able to watch 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' from Monday, 1 June 2026. Not next month, but the following year. (So, don’t clear your diary just yet unless you’re really planning ahead.)

Quick refresher: what happens in 'Homecoming'?

Jon Watts is the man at the helm here, working from a storyline by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley – with the two of them also co-writing the script, joined by Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers. It’s a proper writers’ room party.

The film picks up with Peter Parker readjusting to sixth-form life after his big debut in 'Captain America: Civil War'. Peter’s desperate to become a full-fledged Avenger (to the point of pestering Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., for approval), but quickly finds himself up against Adrian Toomes – aka the Vulture – played by Michael Keaton, who’s gotten his hands on some Chitauri tech and is up to no good. Naturally, Peter bites off a bit more than he can chew, and in classic teenage superhero fashion, manages to lose both Tony’s trust and his high-tech Spider suit.

Who’s who?

  • Tom Holland – Peter Parker/Spider-Man
  • Robert Downey Jr. – Tony Stark
  • Michael Keaton – Adrian Toomes/The Vulture
  • Zendaya – MJ
  • Jon Favreau – Happy Hogan
  • Gwyneth Paltrow – Pepper Potts
  • Jacob Batalon – Ned Leeds

Reception, box office, the whole lot

Sony rolled the film out in July 2017, and it did exactly what you’d expect: it was a hit. Everyone seemed to like the lighter tone and genuine humour, and people were especially keen on Holland’s take on Spidey. If you look at the numbers, it sits on 92 percent with critics at Rotten Tomatoes, 87 percent from the public, and a 7.4 out of 10 average on IMDb, based on nearly 800,000 votes.

Financially, it’s the sort of performance you’d expect from Marvel at this point: they reportedly spent about $175 million making it, and pulled in a massive $880.9 million worldwide. So of course, sequels were quick to follow.

Franchise timeline and what’s next

After 'Homecoming', came 'Far From Home' in 2019 and 'No Way Home' in 2021. And yes, for those keeping score, part four – now going under the title 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' – is in the diary for a worldwide cinema release on 31 July 2026.

If you fancy reliving Tom Holland’s lowest moments in spandex – or just want an excuse to watch Michael Keaton be menacing – keep an eye on Peacock next year.
