Prime Video Pulls Plug on Gen V Right Before The Boys Season 5 Finale
Prime Video axes Gen V after just two seasons, ending the Boys spin-off.
Well, that went by fast. 'Gen V', the college-set spinoff of 'The Boys', is officially done after just one season — at least, as a standalone show. If you were hoping to see another year of Godolkin University mayhem, you can go ahead and lower those expectations.
Prime Video Pulls the Plug (but Not Entirely)
Amazon has confirmed it isn’t bringing 'Gen V' back for a second solo outing. The series, which debuted in 2023 and invited us to the world’s most dysfunctional school for super-powered young adults, apparently isn’t passing the renewal test. Instead, the plan is to fold these characters back into the main 'The Boys' universe — which, depending on how attached you were, is either a clever rescue mission or just a way to justify a cancellation.
That’s from Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, the brains behind 'The Boys'. There’s none of the classic ‘never say never’ hedging here—they’re done, but the characters aren’t getting tossed into the Vought-shaped void.
Where We Left Off
To jog your memory: 'Gen V' focused on a younger crowd of supes, led by Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), figuring out their powers and running into (shocker) more corporate and moral rot. Season 1 landed in 2023, followed up by season 2 (planned for 2025), connecting storylines between the main 'Boys' seasons. We even got some teases that Marie would be in the thick of things taking on Homelander (Antony Starr), so this wasn’t just an irrelevant footnote — it actually bridged some of the lore.
As for the numbers, 'Gen V' started strong during its three-episode premiere, barely squeezing into the Nielsen streaming top 10 at spot number eight, but it didn’t hold that momentum for long. Still, it had a solid audience and wasn’t some forgotten experiment.
The Cast & Connections
- Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau
- Lizze Broadway
- Maddie Phillips
- London Thor
- Derek Luh
- Asa Germann
- Sean Patrick Thomas
- Hamish Linklater
All of these actors helped flesh out how Vought breeds the next generation of questionable “heroes” at a college basically run like a reality show.
What Happens Next?
For fans of 'The Boys' (which is currently dropping new episodes on Prime Video if you somehow missed that), the crossover is just getting started. Several 'Gen V' cast members are already set to pop up in the main show’s fifth (and final) season. Whether they get real closure or just a flashy cameo is still up in the air.
And for anyone keeping track of all the spin-offs (because yes, that’s an entire cottage industry now), there’s just one confirmed project in the works: 'Vought Rising'. This show will take us back to the 1950s with Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash), both of whom have serious baggage. Prime Video says season 5 of 'The Boys' will lay the groundwork for this prequel, which is slated for...sometime in 2027. The scheduling, as usual, is anyone’s guess.
So, RIP to Godolkin as its own gig, but don’t lose hope if you care about these characters. They’ll be back — just with a lot more Homelander looming over their heads.
