Prime Video Greenlights Delphi, a Knockout Rocky and Creed Spinoff Series
Prime Video punches up its slate with Delphi, a Creed spin-off expanding the Rocky universe, backed by executive producers Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler.
Here comes another contender out of the Rocky and Creed universe, but this time it isn’t another movie about a legendary fighter who just can’t stay out of the ring. Amazon’s Prime Video is officially rolling out Delphi, a live-action series that ditches the idea of following Rocky or Adonis Creed for the millionth time. Instead, this show zooms in on an iconic piece of the franchise’s DNA: the Delphi Boxing Academy. If you’ve watched the movies, yes, that’s the gym.
What’s the Big Idea?
The setup is pretty straightforward — and honestly, it’s not a bad direction. Delphi will focus on young, up-and-coming boxers training at the LA gym that’s served as the backbone to so many stories in the Rocky/Creed timeline. No more gigantic spotlights on aging icons; instead, we get a fresh set of faces trying to build their own legacy in the shadow of all that came before.
Who’s In the Corner?
The behind-the-scenes team has some heavy hitters:
- Michael B. Jordan is on board as executive producer, working through his Outlier Society banner.
- Ryan Coogler is also developing the show. If you’ve seen Creed or Black Panther, you know that’s good news.
- Marco Ramirez is the showrunner and executive producer. His résumé includes Hulu’s boxing drama La Maquina, plus stints on Daredevil, The Defenders, and Fear the Walking Dead. So, yes, he knows his way around scrappy underdogs and big, melodramatic worlds.
A Little Franchise History
If you need a refresher on the gym: Delphi Boxing Academy was founded by Tony 'Duke' Evers, Apollo Creed’s original trainer. In the Creed runs, it’s where Adonis Creed learns to fight, with Duke’s son, Tony 'Little Duke' Evers, running the place in the most recent movies. So, instead of shoving familiar faces back into the ring just to sell another season, Delphi lets the gym itself become the legacy character. It’s actually a smart way to expand the world without turning every episode into a parade of cameos and nostalgia winks.
The Road Ahead
Here’s what we know (and don’t know):
- Production kicks off in Los Angeles on May 18, 2026.
- No word yet on who’s starring — Prime Video is holding those details back for now.
- There’s no announced release window, so don’t plan your binge just yet.
- Amazon has already picked up the show for a second season — and keep in mind, season one hasn’t even started filming. That’s unusually confident for a spin-off series.
Why This Matters (or Might)
The Creed series has been a big win for MGM in recent years, quietly raking in over $660 million worldwide across three movies. Creed III proved that you can even keep the cash flowing without Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky showing up, which opened the door for new ideas in the franchise. Now, Delphi is the first time that broader universe is being tested on TV — and Amazon is treating this one like a sure thing, not just another IP cash grab they’ll quietly bury if nobody cares.
'The Delphi gym is more than just a set — it’s where generations of fighters are made, driven, and sometimes broken. That’s something you can actually build a series around, without having to resurrect Rocky for the fifteenth time.'
If Delphi ends up making its new characters feel like actual people and not just placeholders to keep the franchise afloat, Amazon may have found the right formula to keep this world alive. At the very least, it’s nice to see a shared universe try something that doesn’t revolve around legacy stars showing up just to wave at the camera.
