A pop star-turned-actor has just climbed a rung in Hollywood — and you’ll want to see where they’ve landed.

What do you get when you throw Nicolas Cage into an underground hacker drama, dash in a couple of British TV royalty, and spangle it with a bona fide Indonesian pop star? Apparently, you get C.L.A.Y. Yes, the man who once stole the Declaration of Independence is back, this time dabbling in a world of rogue coders, murky alliances, and, naturally, life-altering digital chaos. You honestly can’t call him predictable.

New faces in the hacker underworld

So, here’s how it all lays out: C.L.A.Y. (which, for the record, stands for ‘Clowns Laughing At You’ — I know, I had to check twice myself) centres on a genius-level computer prodigy who’s so socially invisible he’d probably be overlooked at a LAN party. This poor sod stumbles into the titular hacker collective, where he finds the sort of ‘purpose and belonging’ that usually comes with, let’s face it, a hidden agenda. Cue the inevitable: their online antics start having actual consequences, and suddenly everyone from government spooks to underworld mobs wants a piece.

If your mind is leaping to things like Mr. Robot or even a bit of Fight Club with a motherboard twist, you’re not wrong — the official line leans heavily into that territory. There’s shadowy hacker groups, digital mischief, and enough outsider angst to fuel three series on Channel 4.

Where it gets interesting is the cast. Alongside Cage, you’ll find Michael Sheen (of Good Omens and general “blokes who know what they’re doing” fame), Jordi Mollà (last spotted in Mobland), Emilio Sakraya (he’s in Fourth Wing), and Adrian Topol (Snowflake). What they’re playing is mostly still under wraps — including who exactly is meant to be the tragic coding genius at the heart of it all.

Agnez Mo enters the chat

But here’s the bit that’ll make some people Google: Indonesian superstar Agnez Mo just signed on. Don’t know her? She’s got over 31 million Instagram followers and actual Billboard hits, so unless you’re allergic to pop, tune in. She may not be a household name in Britain, but she’s no stranger to a big stage. Her English-language TV debut landed not long ago in Season 4 of Reacher, where she kicked off as Jack Reacher’s latest love interest, Lila Hoth. If you’ve watched that series, you know she didn’t just blend into the furniture — her character turned more heads than a car chase in Soho.

Simon Afram, the writer-director behind C.L.A.Y., sounded fairly chuffed about the casting choice: ‘She is a captivating actress – fearless, intense and full of emotional depth. We are thrilled to welcome her to this extraordinary ensemble.’

For Agnez Mo, it’s clearly not a one-off. Alongside sharing scenes with Nicolas Cage and Michael Sheen in C.L.A.Y., she’s also openly keen to level up her acting profile — she’s even said she’d love to play Psylocke in Disney’s eventual X-Men reboot, if anyone with casting power happens to be listening.

Production on C.L.A.Y. will start in London this November.

If you fancy catching up on Agnez Mo’s screen work before then, all eight episodes of Reacher Season 4 are now on Prime Video — her arc is worth a look just for the plot surprises alone.
