Nick Jonas will star in a Netflix Christmas rom-com, with filming set for early 2027
Nick Jonas’ Netflix Christmas romcom finally has a timeline, with a fresh update pinning down when production kicks off.
Well, here we go again: Nick Jonas is diving headfirst into festive rom-com territory, this time with a brand new Netflix original. If you ever wondered what would happen if you combined a baby, a love triangle, and a suspiciously tight timeline, Netflix seem determined to answer that—just in time for your 2027 Christmas viewing queue.
Netflix are planning to shoot the film from 19 January to 19 February, 2027—just five weeks start to finish.
Behind the Scenes
The project's currently limping along under the thrilling name Untitled Nick Jonas Xmas. Very cloak and dagger. Netflix haven’t stuck an official release date on it yet, but the idea is clearly to have this thing streaming by Christmas 2027. That is, if they can get it edited, soundtracked, and ready in the months following their late-winter shoot.
Why the rush? Well, five weeks is about standard for a streaming holiday rom-com—these aren't sprawling productions. Ari Sandel is directing and Tamara Chestna is writing the script. No word yet on who else is joining Jonas in the cast, so at this point it’s basically a one-man-and-a-baby show.
The Plot (Such As It Is)
Here’s the gist: Jonas plays Tom Benton, your classic bachelor-about-town, whose solitary lifestyle nosedives into chaos when he's saddled with parenting his cousin's baby. Just when our man thinks he’s found his feet as a single dad, the proper custody drama kicks in as the kid's godmother shows up for Christmas, hands outstretched for the baby—and, presumably, Tom's heart.
- Nick Jonas leads as Tom Benton
- Directed by Ari Sandel
- Script by Tamara Chestna
- No additional cast announced yet
- Shooting scheduled from 19 Jan–19 Feb 2027
To borrow the official description: Tom Benton is living the easy bachelor life until he inherits his cousin’s infant child. He stumbles through early parenthood, and then—plot twist—the godmother arrives to complicate matters over the holiday season, sparking a love story neither of them saw coming. You can probably guess where all this is headed, but that’s part of the holiday film contract these days.
