Netflix has retitled Now You See Me director Louis Leterrier’s upcoming sci-fi thriller from 11817 to The Last House and set its release date, with Wagner Moura and Greta Lee leading the cast.

Netflix has decided to shake things up a bit with director Louis Leterrier's latest project. If you've been tracking this one under the working title 11817, go ahead and update your notes—it officially has a new name: The Last House. Also, mark your calendars, because this one's got a firm release date now: August 7, 2026. Yes, they're getting a little ahead of themselves—this announcement is dropping more than two years before people can actually hit "play". Classic Netflix, I guess.

So, what's The Last House actually about?

Here it is in a nutshell: A family of four suddenly finds themselves trapped inside their own house. We're not talking a weekend snowstorm or a broken door. For whatever mysterious reason, they're sealed in. No way out, dwindling supplies, and something ominous lurking out there keeping them confined. It's a blend of family drama and nerve-shredding claustrophobia—sounds like it could go wild in the right hands, or be deeply frustrating if you're not into homebound thrillers.

The cast brings some serious heat

This thing is led by Wagner Moura, who you probably know as the guy who made Narcos worth watching and most recently snagged an Oscar nomination for The Secret Agent. He’s joined by Greta Lee, who keeps popping up everywhere these days—from The Morning Show to Tron: Ares and even the next Toy Story movie (more on that in a sec). This marks Moura’s first big feature after his awards buzz, and Lee's keeping the streak alive with nonstop projects.

The movie's supporting cast includes:

  • Riley Chung (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes)
  • Emma Ho (The Baker)
  • Noah Alexander Sosnowski (Section 8)
  • Gabriel Barbosa (May December)

Behind the scenes

Directing is Louis Leterrier—yes, the guy who did Now You See Me and The Incredible Hulk. The script comes from Matthew Robinson, the writer who handled Love and Monsters, so expect some decent genre chops and hopefully some flair in the dialogue. On the producer side, Leterrier is joined by 3 Arts Entertainment's Oly Obst, plus Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kori Adelson, all for Chernin Entertainment. If you really want all the names, there's also a long list of executive producers: Thomas Benski, Cecile Gaget, Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher, and Damian Anderson. Apparently, it takes a village.

What are the stars up to?

Moura is on a roll from his Oscar-nominated role and will show up next in the drama The Last Day, this time sharing the screen with Alicia Vikander. Greta Lee's list of projects is bananas—besides this Netflix project, she's the voice of Lilypad in Toy Story 5 (if you need another reason to be vaguely excited about yet another Pixar sequel).

The teaser images

As you'd expect with this kind of long-lead tease, Netflix has also dropped the first batch of official pics of the cast—you know, to prove this movie exists and isn’t just a press release.

That official summary

'A family of four is suddenly sealed inside their home with no way out and must work together to survive against both their dwindling resources and the mysterious, looming threat keeping them trapped.'

So there you have it: The Last House gets a new title, a far-off release date, and a pretty stacked cast. If you’re into home-invasion-style thrillers but want something with a high-profile pedigree both in front of and behind the camera, this might be one to watch—assuming you remember it exists in 2026.
