Naruto’s Untapped Power: Why Boruto Ignores His God Chakra
Naruto’s most powerful abilities remain curiously absent in Boruto, leaving fans puzzled. Discover why his legendary Six Paths Chakra is missing from the spotlight.
For those left wondering,
“WHY IS KISHIMOTO NOT LETTING NARUTO USE HIS GOD CHAKRA?”
you’re not alone. The frustration is palpable among viewers of Boruto, who have noticed that Naruto’s most formidable abilities seem to have vanished. Despite what’s shown on screen, the Seventh Hokage still retains the Six Paths Chakra, a permanent gift from Hagoromo. There was never any suggestion that this power was a fleeting privilege.
Yet, in Boruto, Naruto appears to have been reduced from a near-mythical figure to a rather harried parent, as if he’s misplaced the key to his own strength. The gap between what he should be capable of and what is actually depicted has led to accusations of lacklustre writing.
Six Paths Sage Mode: The Forgotten Arsenal
Receiving the Six Paths Chakra during the events of Naruto Shippuden was not a temporary surge. Hagoromo granted Naruto the full extent of Six Paths Senjutsu, enabling him to recover from severe wounds, sense chakra across vast distances, manipulate Yin-Yang Release, and even counteract the deadly Kill Ash Bones—all without relying on Kurama.
This suite of abilities remains with him in Boruto. There’s no canonical evidence to suggest it has faded. No retcon, no sudden loss, no expiry date. The Six Paths Senjutsu is as much a part of him as Sage Mode. The issue is that Boruto barely acknowledges its existence.
Instead of showcasing these remarkable skills, the series often depicts Naruto using only basic Sage Mode or a simplified version of Kurama Mode. He’s portrayed as if he’s gone straight from being a war hero to an overburdened leader who can barely keep up with daily life.
Declining Chakra: The Disappearance of Spectacle
While Naruto’s core Six Paths abilities remain, the dramatic enhancements from the war arc are conspicuously absent. These enhancements were significant. During the war, Naruto not only had Kurama’s chakra but also fragments from all the Tailed Beasts, which amplified his powers to extraordinary levels—complete with glowing forms, tomoe markings, flight, and Truth-Seeking Orbs.
After the war, however, those borrowed chakra fragments faded away. The Truth-Seeking Orbs were used up, and the Tailed Beasts returned to their own paths. The visual spectacle of Six Paths Sage Mode naturally diminished.
Matters worsened in Boruto. The loss of Kurama during the battle with Isshiki stripped Naruto of his greatest source of power. Without Kurama, he can no longer access the advanced forms that once defined his strength, nor can he combine them with Six Paths Senjutsu to achieve the awe-inspiring displays seen in Shippuden.
What Remains: Overlooked Strength
What’s left is the base Six Paths Senjutsu—still potent, but largely ignored by Boruto’s creators. The form doesn’t make a showy appearance, not because Naruto has lost it, but because the elements that made it visually impressive are gone, and the quieter aspects are simply not explored.
Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations are all available to stream on Crunchyroll.
