Missing Jessica Jones? MCU future gets a hopeful update after Daredevil: Born Again season 3
Krysten Ritter’s dangled a lifeline for Jessica Jones — with a hopeful update after Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 that strongly hints the door’s still ajar.
Right, so here's one for all the Marvel diehards who've been hanging on every scrap of news about Jessica Jones – and anyone who just likes seeing Krysten Ritter sort out New York's worst criminals in a leather jacket. There's fresh chatter about whether Jessica will make it out of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 with her Marvel future intact, and for once, the door's not slammed shut.
Not Quite the End?
At this year's New York Comic Con on 9 October 2026, Krysten Ritter was out and about, obviously getting grilled about what's next for her character (because when isn't she?). She was asked straight up if Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again was really the last we'd see of Jessica Jones. Here's how Ritter put it during her chat with Screen Rant:
'I mean, this is Marvel, and Jessica keeps coming back. I don't know what the future holds, but I'm hopeful, and we'll see.'
So, that's not a confirmation, but she's not ruling anything out. And for anyone feeling hopeless about the last time we'd see Jessica grumble her way through a punch-up, that's something. It's also very Marvel, isn't it – the old 'never say never', even if nothing is locked in. Marvel themselves, it's worth pointing out, have not actually announced any new projects with Ritter's Jessica after what's already on the slate.
Ritter is now 44, which means she could keep knocking heads together for a while yet, but the honest answer is we're waiting around for Marvel to decide if they're using her again.
Jessica Jones first showed up in November 2015 when her own Netflix series launched.
The Jessica Jones Journey
Wind the clock back a bit: Ritter first picked up Jessica's battered leather jacket in her own standalone Netflix series, which dropped all the way back in November 2015. The show set Jessica up as a private investigator in NYC, a super-powered ex-hero with more baggage than an airport carousel, regularly tangling with criminals (superhuman or just extremely unpleasant).
The series ran for three seasons, closing out in 2019. In the middle of all that, we got The Defenders, stitching Jessica together with Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist for the all-too-brief superhero squad-up. That cemented her in the wider Marvel TV pool, even if every single show barely seemed to know if the films existed.
If you drifted away once the Netflix run ran out, here's your catch-up: Jessica finally returned this year, guest appearance style, on Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which landed on Disney+ on 24 March 2026. She sided with Matt Murdock in trying to put the brakes on Mayor Wilson Fisk's nasty little empire, so a proper street-level crossover was back on the cards.
- Jessica Jones: Netflix series premiere – November 2015
- The Defenders: Crossover event – Midway through original Netflix run
- Jessica Jones series end – 2019
- Daredevil: Born Again S2 on Disney+ – 24 March 2026
- Daredevil: Born Again S3: Ritter's next confirmed appearance (no release date yet)
The fact she appeared in Born Again at all does open up possibilities — Marvel's street-level stuff always leaves space for cameos and messy team-ups. But as it stands, Ritter's recent comments are about hope, not contracts. Anyone fancy seeing her back will have to wait for Marvel's next official nod before banking on Jessica's next case.
