Masters of the Universe Has Way More Post-Credit Scenes Than You’re Expecting
Masters of the Universe packs more post-credits scenes than you’re expecting—so don’t bolt when the lights come up this weekend. Directed by Travis Knight, the sword-and-sorcery revival is the second live-action outing after 1987 and stars Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Jared Leto, and Alison Brie.
If you're headed out to see the new Masters of the Universe this weekend, do yourself a favour and don't rush off as soon as the credits roll. It turns out, this film delivers not one, not two, but three separate post-credit scenes. Yes, three. Make whatever jokes you want about Marvel, but even they didn't see that coming.
Who's Who in Eternia?
This one comes courtesy of Travis Knight in the director's chair, serving up the second attempt at a live-action Masters of the Universe—the original, if anyone remembers, landed way back in 1987. It's backed by Mattel Studios, still riding high from Barbie, and Escape Artists.
The cast list is, frankly, massive:
- Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man
- Camila Mendes
- Jared Leto as Skeletor (so, prepare yourself)
- Alison Brie
- James Purefoy
- Charlotte Riley
- Morena Baccarin
- Kristen Wiig
- Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson
- Idris Elba as Duncan, aka Man-At-Arms
- ...and a handful more actual humans
How Many Post-Credit Scenes?
According to a report doing the rounds (ComicBookMovie.com calls it), here's your rundown:
The first little dose of extra content shows up just before the closing credits start rolling. Hidden in there is whatever sort of tease or leftover scene someone in a studio boardroom insisted you hadn't actually earned yet. Right after the credits kick off, there's the second—longest—scene, followed, once you've sat through the rest, by the third and final post-credit moment at the absolute end.
The not-very-spoiler-y teaser the report gives is this: two of these scenes probably don't matter much (unless you like hunting for Easter eggs no one else spotted), but one of them is apparently crucial if you want to get a hint about any possible sequel.
Is There a Sequel on the Cards?
Don't start getting excited about a follow-up just yet. The studio hasn't actually greenlit anything, and if you look at the box office forecasts, it isn't brilliant news. Expectation is a domestic opening somewhere between $25 and $40 million, which (in big franchise terms) is more of a limp handshake than a standing ovation.
What's the Plot?
For those who want to know what they're getting into, here's the gist:
'After fifteen years away, the legendary Sword of Power drags Prince Adam (that's Nicholas Galitzine) back to his home planet, Eternia. Thing is, Eternia isn't doing too well—it's taken a battering under Skeletor's (Jared Leto) rather unsympathetic rule. Adam now has to team up with his top mates—Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba)—to save his loved ones, his world, and finally accept his destiny as He-Man, apparently the most powerful bloke in the universe.'
The whole thing is locked in for release on 5th June 2026, provided they don't change their minds, which, judging by past attempts to get this franchise moving, wouldn't be the wildest thing that could happen.
