Marvel’s newly announced Zodiac series has Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans buzzing — its spy-thriller logo and S.H.I.E.L.D. nods have sparked social media calls for a fan-favourite’s comeback.

Marvel's just revealed its new spy thriller series Zodiac, and, as expected, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. crowd are practically tripping over themselves on social media hoping for the return of a fan favourite: Daisy Johnson, played by Chloe Bennet. All it took was a logo tease and a few S.H.I.E.L.D.-adjacent hints, and it's like 2015 all over again but with bigger conspiracy boards.

Zodiac is aiming for a 2028 premiere on Disney+ and will start casting within weeks.

Why Daisy Johnson?

This all kicked off at New York Comic Con 2026, where Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum pulled the sheet off the new project. The announcement itself was simple enough, but the official logo for Zodiac had people zooming in on their screens: there's a classic S.H.I.E.L.D. eagle hidden right in the letter 'A', and the 'O' in Zodiac features a wheel pattern with 12 sections and three missing bits—comic fans immediately clocked it as a nod to the Great Wheel storyline, and not subtle in the slightest.

Winderbaum didn't exactly deny the logo's comic lore Easter eggs. Here's how he teased it at the con:

'If you're a fan of the comics there is a lot hidden in that logo.'

That's all the push the internet needed. Pretty soon, fans were all over X (still calling it 'formerly Twitter', for some reason) firing off memes and wishful thinking, like “welcome back daisy johnson” and “DAISY COME BACK??”, coupled with clips from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. itself. Even Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson himself) shared the reveal on his Instagram stories, as if to quietly approve the collective hype spiral.

What's Zodiac Actually About?

For anyone who doesn't have the complete Marvel encyclopaedia on their bedside table: the Zodiac cartel first turned up in Avengers #72 back in 1970, a shadowy crew of twelve villains themed after the zodiac signs. Then you get Jonathan Hickman's later spin—the Great Wheel—made up of S.H.I.E.L.D. spymasters, Hydra bigwigs, and, in a typical Marvel turn, a time-hopping Leonardo da Vinci. The wheel motif in the title is clearly a tip of the cap to both versions, if not a straight lift.

Industry tipster Daniel Richtman noted, just in case there was any doubt floating about, that Zodiac is the official name and not some placeholder. He also pointed out that, yes, the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo's right there for everyone to overanalyse.

  • Filming is set to start in London next spring
  • Casting officially kicks off in a couple of weeks
  • They're targeting Disney+ for 2028—so, patience, basically
