Martin Scorsese’s Las Vegas Netflix series finally has a title, with Oscar Isaac headlining as Alec Baldwin and two more stars join the high-roller cast.

Alright, so there’s finally some real news out of Martin Scorsese’s new project at Netflix, and if you like your prestige TV with a side of Vegas dirt and genre A-listers, this one’s got your number.

Scorsese, Vegas, and a Seriously Stacked Cast

First off, the show officially has a title now: 'The Roman'. It’s all about the modern Vegas casino scene, so if you’re picturing a bunch of suits playing cutthroat games behind the scenes of neon luxury, you’re probably on the right track.

This one actually made me pause: Scorsese might not be directing all of it, but he's executive producing, and the first two episodes are in the hands of J.C. Chandor, who knows his way around tense, smart drama ('A Most Violent Year,' 'Triple Frontier'). Brian Koppelman and David Levien, those two who turned 'Billions' and 'Rounders' into must-watch TV, are writing and running the show—so expect a lot of sharp dialogue and power plays.

What's Actually Happening on 'The Roman'?

Plot-wise, here’s the heart of it: Oscar Isaac leads as Robert 'Bobby Red' Redman, who runs the 'hottest hotel casino in town.' He’s trying to hold onto his throne (this is Vegas, someone's always coming for your crown), and he’s apparently willing to gamble big to stay on top. Think: modern, flashy, but still the bruiser under the pinstripes.

Meet the Latest Power Players

Some fresh casting just landed:

  • Alec Baldwin is jumping in as Paul 'Primo' Clark, described as 'a legendary and flint-eyed business technician.' Apparently, Baldwin’s character acts as a mentor-slash-possible nemesis-ish father figure to Isaac’s Redman—but he isn’t shy about having his protegés scrap for his attention. Can’t wait to see those scenes.
  • Betty Gilpin ('GLOW') will play Marla Blake, Redman’s wife. She’s being painted as 'formidable' and 'a brilliant, highly connected lawyer,' and supposedly she knows the city’s underbelly as well as her husband does. If they give Gilpin something meaty to do, I’m absolutely in.
  • David Costabile (aka 'the guy who’s always good in everything,' from 'Billions' to 'Breaking Bad') is on board as Bill Maverick, who happens to run a rival casino. You just know he’s going to stir up trouble.

Here’s how Netflix is selling it: 'The Roman is an hour-long drama set in the high-stakes, sharp-elbowed present-day Las Vegas casino business, which is a modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city.' So, basically, take everything you love about old-school Vegas crime sagas, inject some streaming-era polish, and toss in a few more sharks in the water.

Who's Behind the Camera?

Beyond Scorsese, Isaac, Koppelman, and Levien, producer credits are going to Julie Yorn and Rick Yorn (Expanded Media), Paul Schiff, Beth Schacter, and JC Chandor—again, pretty deep TV and film bench. Chandor is taking on directing duties for episode one and two, which usually means Netflix is aiming to set a high bar from the jump.

When Can You Watch?

There’s no release date yet for 'The Roman.' Given the cast, the pedigree, and the subject matter, I’d bet people are going to be talking about this one before anybody rolls the dice in an opening shot. I’ll update with a date as soon as one exists—even if Netflix loves to keep that stuff secret until the last possible minute.

For now: big names, Vegas drama, power struggles, and maybe the return of that great Scorsese-style chaos. Stay tuned.
