Lana Condor wants back in as Jubilee when Marvel reboots the X-Men in the MCU.

Alright, here we go—Marvel is finally getting its act together for an actual X-Men movie set in the MCU. Not cameos, not 'technically a mutant' reveals... we're talking about bringing in the whole team for real. Believe it or not, this has taken literal decades, thanks to all the movie rights ping-ponging between 20th Century Fox and Disney.

We have seen some of the old-school X-Men pop up for a few winks and nods (looking at you, Deadpool—and yes, Kamala Khan is officially a mutant now, in case you missed that memo). But Marvel is just now putting the pieces together to give the mutants their own spotlight in the MCU’s megafranchise.

The Next X-Men Movie: What We Know (So Far)

The project’s still in the early days. They’ve tapped Jake Schreier (who’s handling Thunderbolts*) to direct, and the script’s getting a fresh pass from Lee Sung Jin (Beef) plus Joanna Calo (The Bear). If you’re holding your breath for casting news, don’t. Marvel hasn’t dropped a single hint about which new faces will be stepping into those iconic roles—Professor X, Magneto, Wolverine, all the classics. Even Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, who’s basically the mutant franchise’s barnacle, isn’t a 100% lock beyond what’s already filmed.

So, for now, everyone’s speculating wildly and every actor who’s ever read a comic is being thrown into the rumor machine.

Lana Condor’s X-Men Dream (Again)

Here's something a little surprising: Lana Condor, who you might vaguely remember as Jubilee from X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), is on a one-woman campaign to get back into the mutant action. You gotta respect her hustle—she’s basically been campaigning since the credits rolled.

'I have been on this crusade to try and have them bring me back since truly the moment X-Men: Apocalypse first came out. There was so much of Jubilee because she was my first character ever, ever, ever, and I was such a baby...I didn't know. I thought you had to pay for crafting. I had never stepped foot on set. So, I didn't know that world, and I was just so happy to be there. Honestly, any screen time that I got, I was like, "I can't believe this is happening." There was so much that I wanted to do with Jubilee, and there's so many—based off of the comics—just so many places to go with her, so hopefully. That would be amazing, I would love that.'

To translate: Jubilee was her first-ever role, she was overwhelmed just being there, and now that she's got more experience, she's itching for a do-over to actually dig into the character. Fair point—her original stint as Jubilee barely scratched the surface. She’s only appeared in live-action once (not counting her voice in Marvel’s new X-Men '97 cartoon, which, fun fact, is Holly Chou, not the original 90s animated Jubilee).

Also worth noting: Lana Condor is 28. That’s right in the MCU sweet spot for actors who could stick around as X-Men for the next hundred movies or whatever Kevin Feige has planned.

So, Who’s In and Who’s Out?

  • Director: Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*)
  • Writers: Lee Sung Jin (Beef), Joanna Calo (The Bear)
  • Main Cast: No confirmed actors—more rumor mill than reality right now
  • Legacy Mutants: Possibly Ryan Reynolds, but don’t expect many other Fox-era actors
  • Lana Condor (Jubilee): Very publicly lobbying for a return, but no official word

Bottom line: Marvel is still at the whiteboard-and-sticky-notes stage with the X-Men reboot, but it’s coming. No timeline on casting, but you can bet everyone from major stars to one-scene alumni like Condor are throwing their names in. We’ll keep you updated as soon as any casting news actually drops, not just hopeful Instagram posts.
