Kit Harington has made it clear he has no intention of reprising Jon Snow in audiobook form, following the cancellation of his planned spin-off. Find out what he had to say about leaving the character behind.

Kit Harington, best known for his portrayal of Jon Snow, appears to have drawn a line under his time in Westeros. Despite once being attached to a solo project centred on his iconic character, Harington has now distanced himself from any further involvement, particularly when it comes to lending his voice to an audiobook adaptation.

Reluctance to Revisit the Past

During a recent conversation about his work as Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter audiobook series, Harington was asked who he might choose to voice Jon Snow in a potential Game of Thrones audiobook. His response left little room for doubt.

No, god no,

he replied, seemingly interpreting the question as a suggestion that he might take on the role himself.

I don't wanna go anywhere near it. I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I'm alright.

His words suggest a sense of finality, as if the chapter has well and truly closed. After a decade inhabiting the role, Harington seems content to leave Jon Snow in the past, declining any opportunity to revisit the character, even in audio form.

Spin-Off Series Shelved

Harington had previously been involved in developing a spin-off series, provisionally titled Snow, which would have explored Jon Snow's life following the events of the eighth series. However, the project failed to gain momentum.

We spent a couple of years back and forth developing it. And it just didn't... nothing got us excited enough,

he explained, reflecting on the reasons behind the decision to abandon the show.

In the end, I kind of backed out and said, 'I think if we push this any further and keep developing it we could end up with something that's not good'. And that's the last thing we all want.

His remarks indicate a desire to avoid diluting the legacy of the original series with a lacklustre follow-up, preferring to step away rather than risk disappointment for both himself and the audience.

Westeros Moves Forward

While Harington has stepped aside, the world of Westeros is far from dormant. New chapters are on the horizon, with the third series of House of the Dragon and the debut of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms both scheduled for 2026. Further instalments of each have already been confirmed, promising plenty for fans to anticipate.

The first series of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set to arrive on 18 January 2026, ensuring that the saga continues to expand. In the meantime, viewers can look forward to a host of much-talked-about television releases in the coming year.
