Jeremy Renner says Mayor of Kingstown is gearing up for Season 5 — and it’s the last ride. The final chapter is set to tie off the show’s biggest arcs, with Seasons 1–4 streaming now on Paramount+.

Here we go again with Mayor of Kingstown news. If you’ve been keeping tabs on Jeremy Renner’s ice-cold crime drama, we’ve hit a bit of a milestone: Renner himself has piped up to say that Season 5 – the show’s last, allegedly – is nearly in the can. That’s not the only bombshell either; he’s strongly hinting that things are about to go to hell for pretty much everyone still hanging around Kingstown.

‘No One Is Safe This Season’

In a bit of classic Renner mischief, he dropped a post on Instagram featuring his actual dogs, Roxy and Hershey, dressed as jailbirds. One of them’s even wearing the full prison stripes. But the real comedy is overshadowed by the background: a burnt-out car just casually smouldering in front of a building labelled ‘McLusky Steel’. Subtle, that.

As for his caption, Renner didn’t mince words:

Coming close to finishing Season 5 on Mayor of Kingstown. No one is safe this season …. I mean Nobody! Bless you all and thank you for the support all these years.. we appreciate you!!!!

So, yeah, if you thought anyone was getting a happy ending here, you might want to brace yourself.

Release Date? Don’t Hold Your Breath

If you’re keen for dates, sorry – they’re keeping tight-lipped about when Season 5 will drop. The only thing official is that the previous four seasons are still available on Paramount+, if you fancy a refresher or just want to relive all the shouting and general doom.

Plot: Trouble Actually Always Finds You In Kingstown

What’s actually happening in Season 5? Here’s what’s been teased. The fallout from the murder of Mike’s sister-in-law, Tracy, brings a fresh face to town – FBI agent Russell Hardy. He’s described as a stickler for the law, and his arrival threatens to blow up whatever complicated gutter politics Mike has been juggling. It sounds like Hardy’s there precisely to upset the fragile order, which may or may not involve more burning vehicles and misery.

Heads Up: Fewer Episodes Than Usual

If you’re the kind to count episodes, take note: Previous seasons had ten each. This last run will only be eight. Presumably, they want to avoid dragging out the carnage.

Who’s Back (And Who’s New): The Season 5 Cast

  • Jeremy Renner returns as Mike McLusky, naturally, because what would this show be without his ‘I might snap at any moment’ energy?
  • The regulars are back: Edie Falco, Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Necar Zadegan, Nichole Galicia, and Lennie James all return to see this thing through.
  • David Morse joins as Russell Hardy, the aforementioned lawman. If you’ve seen House or John Adams, you know Morse can do ‘authority figure you probably shouldn’t cross’ in his sleep.
  • Néstor Carbonell is also on board in a recurring role as Enrique Molina. He’s popped up in Shōgun, Lost, Bates Motel, and, let’s face it, he tends to signal things are about to get heavy.

Behind the Scenes: The Usual Suspects

The series is still in the hands of Taylor Sheridan (who just refuses to rest) and Hugh Dillon as co-creators. They’re executive producing alongside Renner, plus Ron Burkle, Michael Friedman, Antoine Fuqua (yes, him), David Glasser, and Bob Yari. So, all the big boys are still behind the curtains pulling the strings.
