The Boy universe is getting bigger: new teases hint the upcoming spin-off has future seasons already mapped out.

Alright, here we go. If you’re a Boys fan, you already know the show is allergic to going small for its finales. And now, with Season 5 of The Boys officially locked for April 8 on Prime Video (yep, that’s the end of the main run), things are getting even wilder both in-universe and behind the scenes. Let’s break it down—because the franchise is clearly not calling it a day just yet, even if Homelander is ready to nuke the world and punch an eagle or two.

When One Door Closes (Strongly, and Possibly With a Laser Beam)...

The franchise has been busy hatching spin-offs faster than a supe can crush a crowd. The animated experiment, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, was honestly kind of a flop—nobody’s still talking about it. But Gen V was the opposite: the live-action college-set spinoff worked, it found an audience, and it could even tie directly into the big finish for The Boys.

Still, there’s another branch on the Vought family tree getting a lot of attention, and it’s all thanks to Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy.

Soldier Boy: Father of Homelander and Star of His Own Prequel

If you watched Season 3, you met Soldier Boy, played with perfect sleazeball gusto by Jensen Ackles (who hardcore fans already know from Supernatural). Think of him as what you’d get if Captain America grew up in a frat house and just kept doubling down on the worst instincts possible. Then there’s the big lore twist: Soldier Boy isn’t just a jerk—he’s Homelander’s biological dad. Yes, the show made the most of that disaster pairing, and now we’re getting much more of it.

This brings us to Vought Rising, an upcoming prequel series that throws us back to Soldier Boy’s prime in the 1950s. Aya Cash will be back too, reprising her role as Stormfront (aka Clara Vought). There’s no release date for Vought Rising yet, but you can bet it’ll show up on Prime Video, probably after The Boys wraps up.

So What is Vought Rising Actually About?

Most of the plot is still very hush-hush, but here’s what’s leaked: Vought Rising puts Soldier Boy and Clara Vought (Stormfront) in the thick of a murder mystery, all set against the rise of the fictional Vought corporation back in its early days. The 1950s backdrop promises a different vibe from the firehose-of-blood present-day seasons, but if you’re worried this means the tone will soften, Ackles says otherwise. He claims the 'divisive flair' of the main show will definitely carry over. (Translation: you probably won’t be recommending this one to your parents, unless they’re already corrupted by Billy Butcher’s creative vocabulary.)

Not Just a One-Off: Vought Rising is Planned to Be a Multi-Season Ride

There’s been some confusion about whether Vought Rising is just a miniseries or something more. Here’s what Ackles told Collider:

'I think the intent is to do multiple seasons. When they pitched it, they were like, "Hey, we’re thinking about doing this prequel thing, going back to the 1950s with Soldier Boy." I don’t think I let them finish the sentence before I was like, "Yes!" But I know that the intent is to have it be a multi-season show.'

So, as far as the folks actually making it are concerned, this is supposed to be more than just a “one and done” filler. How well it does with fans and critics? Remains to be seen.

One More Thing About Soldier Boy...

We’re used to seeing Soldier Boy in modern America, permanently 20 years behind what’s cool, and mad about it. But Ackles says the real hook in Vought Rising is that now we’ll see him in his own time period, totally in his element.

'Now we’re getting to see him be relevant, getting to see him in his actual environment where he feels like this is where he belongs. He's the top dog. But you also get to see the experience as to why he ended up the way he did. We get to kind of peel back the layers of what truly happened in that time.'

So, less of the grumpy loser everyone rolls their eyes at... and more of Sergeant America, king of the 1950s (for better or much, much worse).

What to Expect Next

  • The Boys Season 5 is out April 8 on Prime Video—expect the usual carnage and probably at least one scene the internet will spend a week arguing about.
  • Vought Rising doesn’t have a release date, but likely lands after Season 5 wraps (maybe 2026, if you want a guess—but nothing official).
  • There’s a good chance The Boys will tee up Vought Rising in its final episode, so keep your eyes peeled for some vintage Vought weirdness.
  • If you're wondering about Gen V, that's still going too—just finished a well-received Season 2, apparently the spin-off people actually want.

Who’s Starring?

So far confirmed for Vought Rising:

- Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy
- Aya Cash as Stormfront / Clara Vought

More casting details will probably leak out soon, especially once the official premiere date lands.

Bottom line: even with The Boys bowing out, this world isn’t shrinking any time soon. Stay tuned—because Vought’s only getting weirder.
