Jennifer Lawrence has weighed in on The Hunger Games’ long-running Team Gale vs Team Peeta debate — and her verdict might not be the one you’re expecting.

Here we go again: The Hunger Games love triangle has reared its head, and this time, it’s Jennifer Lawrence herself who’s stirred the pot. Might as well pour yourself a cuppa, because somehow, all these years later, we’re right back where we started — Team Peeta or Team Gale?

Jennifer Lawrence picks a side

Lawrence turned up on the Call Her Daddy podcast recently, and host Alex Cooper did what countless internet polls have failed to do: asked Katniss Everdeen herself who she thinks should have ended up with the Mockingjay. With no fuss, Lawrence replied, 'Um, I was Team Gale. Even after he killed my sister.'

Lawrence’s direct choice on the podcast: 'Um, I was Team Gale. Even after he killed my sister.'

If hearing that gave you whiplash, you’re not alone. Even Cooper admitted her own Team Gale leanings, apparently not finding it as scandalous as you’d think. Lawrence just doubled down: ‘Totally.’ No hedging, nothing.

Still arguing a decade later

You’d think all the online fury would’ve died out after the films wrapped up — but no, the love triangle is still a pop culture brawl. Team Peeta fans love to go on about his empathy, his soulfulness, and the fact he’s basically Katniss’s emotional anchor (bonus points for surviving several rounds in an arena without turning into a Capitol clone). The whole 'Peeta is hope and healing' camp has aged surprisingly well.

Meanwhile, Gale brings that brooding childhood bond, shared desperation, and the kind of righteous anger District 12 kids are practically born with. He’s always been the face of open rebellion (for better or much, much worse), and if you like your relationships seasoned with passion and outrage, you’re in the Gale tent.

Katniss may have chosen Peeta in both the books and the films, but Lawrence herself sided with Gale, reigniting old fan arguments that never quite went away.

Confusing? A bit. Surprising? It really is. And just for the record, no matter what Lawrence says on a podcast in 2026, Katniss is still with Peeta when the credits roll. But evidently, it’s not stopping anyone from shouting about it online all over again.
