In The Boys season 5 episode 7, Homelander executes his boldest power grab yet, assassinating President Calhoun to seize control of the United States — a shockwave that could also spark his downfall.

Just when you think The Boys can’t get any wilder, the show hits us with what might be its biggest mic-drop yet, and it’s going to have fans talking (or screaming) all week. You want major power shifts and jaw-dropping moments? Yeah, season 5’s second-to-last episode absolutely delivers.

Homelander Takes Over the White House (Yes, Seriously)

So, here’s where things went completely off the rails: Homelander (Antony Starr, as always turning up the crazy) marches right into the Oval Office and flat-out murders President Calhoun. Not exactly your average negotiation tactic.

Here’s how we get there:

  • Previously, Homelander injected himself with the V1 serum—because apparently he wasn’t quite terrifying enough.
  • Now, hopped up and even more desperate for everyone’s love and validation (civilians aren’t enough, he wants politicians too), he gives President Calhoun a list of demands: dissolve Congress, ban abortion, and—this one’s uniquely disturbing—even make breastfeeding mandatory across America.
  • Calhoun doesn’t exactly jump to obey, and Homelander gets suspicious. He asks Ashley to literally read the President’s mind to see where his loyalties are.
  • Ashley, forced into the world’s most awkward workplace task, confirms the President isn’t as Homelander-worshipping as needed. Next thing you know: bye-bye, President.
  • Ashley, in a move that’s both ridiculous and totally on-brand for The Boys, is now the President. And she’s absolutely terrified.

So, what does this all mean? Homelander basically controls the U.S. government now. He’s never been more powerful, but (because this show loves its chaos butterfly effect) the way he’s getting what he wants could be exactly what finally takes him down.

The Finale: Supes, Spinoffs, and One Last Ride

In a first for Prime Video, they’re actually putting The Boys finale in 4DX theaters. That’s right, you can physically feel the seat shake while the world falls apart on screen.

The last episode drops May 20, 2026, and it’s supposed to close out the arcs of the main crew: Hughie, Butcher, Annie, Homelander, and Soldier Boy. But don’t expect the universe to wrap up in a neat bow. There’s a new spinoff on the way, ‘Vought Rising,’ and we’ll even get some kind of final word on the Gen V cast after its cancellation.

'If you thought Homelander couldn’t go any further, now he’s basically running the country. It’s unhinged even by The Boys standards.'

So yeah, even for a show that’s built its reputation on the outrageous, this episode is a new peak. If you’re not caught up, now might be the time to binge—next week’s finale sounds like it’s going to be the wildest one yet.
