Geneva Robertson-Dworet, co-showrunner of the Fallout TV series, hints that the infamous talking Deathclaws from the RPGs could make a comeback in future episodes on Prime Video.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who shares the helm of the Fallout television adaptation, appears to be keeping her cards close to her chest regarding what might appear in the wasteland next. When asked about the possibility of seeing the notorious, articulate Deathclaws in upcoming instalments, she replied,

“I mean, nothing's off the table.”

Her remarks suggest that the door remains wide open for some of the franchise’s most unsettling creatures to step into the limelight.

Robertson-Dworet went on to reflect on the peculiar appeal of these genetically engineered beasts.

“The intelligent Deathclaws are obviously favourites, and I find, though, all the Deathclaws sympathetic, just because their creation is a human-influenced thing. It wasn't something they asked for. They're not just a product of natural evolution. This is the fault of human error and human hubris. So I feel like even if they're attacking you, it's kind of your own fault in a way.”

Her perspective casts these monsters in a rather different light, hinting at a certain tragic undertone behind their ferocity.

Deathclaws: From Game Lore to Screen

Only the most dedicated fans of the original games are likely to recall the talking Deathclaws. Fallout 2, released back in 1998, introduced a handful of quests involving these creatures, with one, Goris, even joining the player as a companion. After their brief moment in the sun, the chatty Deathclaws faded from the mainline series, especially as Bethesda took the reins. They did, however, resurface in the free-to-play Fallout Shelter Online and made a curious appearance in the TV tie-in, Viva New Vegas.

On screen, Deathclaws have already made their presence felt. The second series of Fallout features these formidable beasts, brought to life through a mix of puppetry and practical effects. They first appear in a flashback to Anchorage, and later, one blocks the path to New Vegas for The Ghoul and Lucy, leaving viewers with a taste of what these creatures are capable of.

What Lies Ahead for Fallout’s Beasts?

With the second series currently available to stream, speculation is rife about what else might crawl out of the irradiated woodwork. Robertson-Dworet’s comments have certainly set imaginations running, especially among those who remember the more bizarre corners of the Fallout universe. The show’s willingness to embrace the stranger elements of its source material could mean that nothing is truly off-limits.

For those eager to know when the next episodes will drop, the release schedule for the remainder of the series is already out. And for anyone still on the fence, there’s always the latest review to help decide whether to dive back into the post-apocalyptic chaos.
