David Corenswet’s One Lesson That Will Shape Milly Alcock’s Supergirl
With Supergirl soaring toward release, Milly Alcock says DCU co-star David Corenswet became her on-set compass—fielding questions about nearly everything and helping her lock onto the character’s core.
Milly Alcock is getting ready to make her big splash as Supergirl in the new DC Universe, but it turns out Superman himself had to give her a few flying lessons first. And no, I'm not talking about 'method acting' where you dangle from cables for six hours (though, probably some of that too). This is one of those fun, slightly odd industry moments where the new Girl of Steel admits she peppered her on-screen cousin for tips on, you know, being super.
How Does a Kryptonian Learn to Fly? Apparently, She Calls Superman
Here’s the deal: during an appearance at CCXP Mexico, Alcock admitted in front of a crowd that she basically treated David Corenswet (the DCU's new Superman) like her personal superhero crash course instructor. She wasn't shy about it either—she asked him about everything, especially the tricky question of how exactly you're supposed to "fly" for the camera. Her version of events sounds less like a brooding training montage and more like, 'Help me, I have no idea what I’m doing up here in the wires!'
"David was on set, and I asked him for advice about everything, and he was very lovely, very warm," Alcock explained. "But yeah, I was just, like, 'How do you fly? How does it work? What do I do? Help me!'"
For those keeping track, Alcock already donned the suit for a cameo in Corenswet's first Superman movie. In that scene, a visibly tipsy Kara Zor-El stumbles into the Fortress of Solitude (cape and all), meets up with Supes, and basically swoops in to grab Krypto before heading off for more cosmic adventures. And yes, that mini handover is supposed to set the stage for her own solo movie.
Not Exactly a Supergirl Family Reunion
In one of those fun red carpet questions, someone finally asked Milly if she ever talked shop with the other women who’ve played Supergirl—like Sasha Calle (DCEU) or Melissa Benoist (The CW). Her answer? Don’t expect a mentoring circle. As Alcock puts it, 'They're just people living their lives. It's not like we have this blood bond.' Honestly, fair point—that's probably Hollywood's idea of a handover, but in reality, everyone's busy. (And really, is there a superhero group chat? I want to know.)
Who Else Is In This Next-Gen DC Adventure?
The new Supergirl movie is set to land in theaters on June 26, 2026, with Craig Gillespie directing. Here’s the short list of who’s confirmed to show up:
- Milly Alcock (Supergirl/Kara Zor-El)
- David Corenswet (Superman)
- Jason Momoa
- Matthias Schoenaerts
- Eve Ridley
Gillespie's style, Alcock's energy, Corenswet's Superman finally passing down a few flight secrets—if nothing else, the setup for this one is very 'passing the Kryptonian torch' in the new DCU. Whether Alcock sticks the landing (literally and figuratively), we'll see next summer.
