Chris Pratt shares a rare glimpse into Star-Lord’s quieter days on Earth, reflecting on music, family, and the uncertain future of his Marvel return. Discover what’s next for the beloved hero.

Chris Pratt, the man behind the ever-irreverent Star-Lord, has finally offered fans a peek at what Peter Quill has been up to since his last cosmic adventure. After the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Quill made the rather uncharacteristic decision to step away from intergalactic heroics, choosing instead to reconnect with his roots on Earth. According to Pratt, this period of downtime is less about saving the universe and more about catching up with family and, perhaps unsurprisingly, music.

During a recent chat to promote his latest sci-fi outing, Mercy, Pratt was asked about his most memorable roles. While Owen Grady and Mario got a mention, it was Star-Lord who took centre stage. There’s no immediate plan for a Marvel comeback, but Pratt hasn’t ruled out donning the red jacket again. When pressed on what Quill might be doing these days, Pratt mused:

"Probably denying the fact that he was responsible for the death of Iron Man, while simultaneously trying to convince people that he was a superhero at some point. Probably catching up on the music. From '70s pop all the way until he came back, there's a lot of music to catch up on.
We made a promise with Guardians of the Galaxy that Star-Lord would return – I think I'd really like to make good on that promise. That would be awesome."

So, for now, Quill is more likely to be found rifling through vinyl than leading a ragtag crew across the stars. The promise of a return, though, still hangs in the air.

Marvel’s Next Moves and Star-Lord’s Place

Despite the absence of concrete plans, speculation about Star-Lord’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe refuses to die down. The next big ensemble, Avengers: Doomsday, is set to hit cinemas in December 2026, boasting what’s rumoured to be the largest cast yet. While familiar faces like Thor and Ant-Man are expected to return, the original Guardians line-up is notably missing from the roster. Whispers suggest the Fantastic Four may be stepping into their shoes, at least for now.

Still, the door isn’t entirely closed. Cameos remain a possibility, especially with the Multiverse Saga drawing to a close. The Russo brothers, known for their penchant for surprise appearances, may well find a way to squeeze in a nod to Quill and his crew, even if only fleetingly.

Pratt’s Superhero Favourites and Future Hopes

When the conversation turned to dream roles, Pratt didn’t hesitate. If he could play any other comic book hero, his answer was immediate: Punisher. “He was my favourite comic book hero growing up, so I've always loved Punisher…He was so good. Maybe Punisher 2099.” Of course, Jon Bernthal currently holds the mantle, but Pratt pointed out he’s already had a taste of that gritty world with his role as James Reece in The Terminal List.

For now, though, Star-Lord’s story is on pause. Whether he’ll be swept back into the Marvel fold remains to be seen, but Pratt’s enthusiasm for the character—and the promise made to fans—suggests the door is far from shut.
